I can't believe people are whining about Yawara being licensed.

We are finally geting it on dvd!

Only Animeigo were daring enough to consider doing this very long series.

In Japan the boxset is extremely rare and always fetches over $1000 boxset.

Animeigo deserve our support and they've got mine, i hope they have everyone elses here too.

Ok, now that I'm over the inital shock, I'm glad that that Yawara has been licensed by AnimEigo of all people.  They'll treat the show well and give us boxsets worth having. :D

He's either taking this incredibly well or...

He's completely lost what little was left of his mind!
My mind is like a sieve. It retains all sorts of interesting bits and lets the important stuff flow straight through.

OMG, this is so exciting, I thought this would NEVER happen in my lifetime. I come back from vacation and take a visit to rightstuf's site and there's the announcement! I'm so glad it's being picked up by Animeigo out of all the company's, I really liked their work on older series like bubblegum crisis.

I only wonder how long it'll take to release all that Yawara!

BTW, any news on whether this license includes the special?

For those that don't know, Animeigo gave free dvd preview of Yawara episode 1-4 at ComiCon, but you can get it from their website if you pay $5 for shipping. I got it today, and man does it have a lot of notes. Their asking for feedback on the disc, so I hope people do give them feedback and they make an awesome box set (hopefully before Christmas like the said).

Just put myself on the pre-order list, I'm not sure how likely it'll be that over 2000+ will pre-order the set, but I can't wait for it to come out.

You did not include the whole letter....

As quoted:

Hello,

You are receiving this email because someone (hopefully you!) signed up
to be notified when our box set of the first season of Yawara! became
available for preorder.  We are pleased to inform you that this has
indeed come to pass.

You can find out more info about the preorder here:

  http://www.animeigo.com/products/yawara.t

Best regards,
Robert Woodhead, CEO

PS: If you got this email in error, our apologies -- just delete it.  We
had an idiot typing fake email addresses into our signup form for a
while.  I spent about an hour this afternoon manually cleaning the list
to try and remove these fake entries, but may not have gotten them all.

Hi everyone, with all the AX news popping up on the web I decided to check out animeigo's site and they have some pictures up of what the box set will look like, and there's going to be a whopping 60+ page booklet with it.

Looks like all people outside of the US or Canada will never be able to watch the rest of this series. It was not that easy to get other series released by AnimEigo as well but Yawara is even harder to find at online shops (probably because of even less interest). We people from outside the states will probably be forced to order it from somewere else and pay a huge tax and shipping (i've paid over 100$ shipping/tax in order to get my fingers on AnimEigo's SDF Macross back then).
Just too bad no another group outside of the US picked up this series in order to make it much easier for people from other countries.
