How the pig saved Live-evil

<< < (2/4) > >>

Sindobook:
"The pig uses his own trickery to fool an infiltrator."

Chelsea was an old acquantince of the pig, who he had not seem for a year or two.  Chelsea knew Mr. Sparkles at the time, and bragged to him that his group would 'hijack' and take over Live-eviL's Shion no Ou subbing.  Mr. Sparkles, being more loyal to the pig than Chelsea, reported this back to the pig and was given a free carrot in return for his vigilance.

Chelsea talked of his plans to sub Shion to many people, but no one took his group very seriously b'cos
it lacked a translator.  Then one day the pig got a call from Chelsea wanting to come over and spend the night.  Chelsea explained that he had won a package of piggie treats at a local raffle and wanted to share it with the pig.  The pig sensed something was suspicious and guessed what Chelsea's real motives were.  Certainly an old acqaintance who had not seen him in a number of years would have better friends than him to share the piggie treats with.

Prior to Chelsea showing up, the pig accessed the group server and downloaded some of the Shion work-in-progress data.  He found early versions of the timed scripts and quickly 'doctored' them, using search/replace to change words and modify the timing so that they would also be, for any practical purposes, useless.  Then he put the files in a directory in his computer off the root and rename them to make it look like they were final scripts, had passed QC and were ready to go.

Chelsea was very generous with his piggie treats and both the pig and his friend ate as many as they wanted.  When night came, the pig pretended to sleep, closing his eyes but continuing to listen.  Sure enough he heard the distinctive 'beep' a computer makes when it first boots up.  He snook out to the computer room and saw Chelsea with a thumb drive in his mouth.  Chelsea was totally unaware of him, he poked around the computer, inserted the thumb drive, and downloaded the fake scripts onto it.  When he was almost down, the pig scurried off and got back in the same position, pretending to be asleep again so he would not be noticed.

The next morning Chelsea seemed in quite a rush to leave but the pig did not want to keep him anyways.  A day after that, Chelsea's group released a number of Shion episodes and the few fans who did actually watch them commented that the subtitles were absolutely unintelligeable and the timing was also way off.  His group quickly faded into obscurity and Chelsea was never heard from again.

Sindobook:
"The pig's mercy from long ago pays off, turning what could have been a disaster into a mere setback."

At one time, the pig employed a number of rats to free his paws from 'busywork'.  One such rat, Bob, turned out to be a plant, feeding back information on the group's project status to Yue-bing (at the time, Yue-bing was still Shinsen's mascot).  When this transgression was discovered, the other rats wanted to feed him to Sam, a cat that lived a few doors down.  But, the pig forbid it, and instead told Bob to leave town and never return.  For if he did, the pig would no longer stop the other rats from feeding him to Sam.

Bob disappeared and wasn't seen for almost two years.  However, one night the pig got a call from Bob on Skype.  Bob said he wanted to return the pig's kindness two years ago and told him that he had become one of Yue-bing's confidants.  He said that Yue-bing had not given up and he felt what she was doing was wrong.

Bob explained that he had met Yue-bing after being run out of town, hitching a ride on a train to San Francisco.  He was quite dejected, but Yue-bing seemed sure of herself and insisted that there were many bunny-lovers in San Francisco and b'cos of that, she would not have much trouble finding a place to live.  Long story short, Yue-bing found a wierd man whom she called "Frompy" to live with, and relied on Bob and a few mice as 'pals' to keep her entertained and occupied.

Bob didn't know much about "Frompy" at the time, he seemed to work from home and be in somewhat poor health.  But, he kept his basement was always well-stocked with food, so Yue-bing and 'friends' had no problem surviving while living with him.  Then, one day, Bob noticed "Frompy" had stopped moving.  Yue-bing insisted this was perfectly normal and he had simply gone into hibernation for the winter.  But Bob and the mice took his pulse and determined he had passed away.   He had died sitting down and using his computer, and was still logged in.

Eventually their food supply ran out and Yue-bing's 'friends' panicked.  But Yue-bing said not to worry, she used Frompy's computer to order boxes of breakfast cereal, crackers, and other foodstuffs online.  While doing this, she noticed that Frompy had a number of unanswered e-mails and started looking through those.  Bob thought little of it at the time.

So Bob's life went on, living with Yue-bing and the mice until he noticed that Yue-bing seemed to be spending more and more time every day using Frompy's computer.

Sindobook:
Bob did not realise the entirety of what was going on until a few weeks had passed.  Eventually he realised that Yue-bing was impersonating the deceased "Frompy" with a combination of E-mails and an occasional phone call in which she would use the AT&T text to speech demonstration webpage.  Yue-bing apparently was able to blame any vocal irregularities on a 'bad connection'.

Yue-bing did not seem to care about the other small animals listening in on her conversation, and this attitude made them assume nothing of any import was being discussed.  When Bob overheard Yue-bing's phone calls he would often hear "funny numbers" being discussed but he didn't know what to make of them.

Then one day Bob had a flashback dream where he was back working for the pig doing some kind of work on a show called 'Galaxy Express 999'.  He woke up a bit disoriented from the dream to the sound of Yue-bing making another text-to-speech phone call to "Frompy's" employer.  Suddenly he realised what Yue-bing was about to do.  He waited until midday when Yue-bing would take her daily 'beauty sleep' and used Skype to call the pig.

Sindobook:
With Bob's report, the pig knew what he had to do, and that time was of the essence.  He summoned Mikey, the ferret in charge of security, and told him to secretly prepare to make a trip to San Francisco.  The pig and a few of his close, trusted friends, the bunny Mr. Sparkles, an escaped former lab rat Nibbles, and a Chinchilla, Peter, snuck on board a greyhound bus destined for San Francisco.  Once they got there, they navigated the streets to a park adjacent to the house where Bob had called from.

Bob had told the pig of a hole in the ventilation vent screen on the side of the house.  Only the pig and Nibbles could fit through the hole.  They waited till late at night and went into the house, after which the pig sent Nibbles to open the garage and let the rest of the animals in while he headed over to the computer to sabotage it.

The pig started chewing up the computer's ethernet cable while it was still plugged in.  He had chewed through it about halfway when he heard the automatic garage opening and expected this would wake up Yue-bing.  Fortunately the other animals were quick to join him and they made short work of the ethernet cable.  Afterwards, they combed the house for Yue-bing but she was nowhere to be found.  Bob was gone also, they didn't find anybody other than a few dwarf hamsters and a fancy mouse.  None of them seemed to know anything.

The pig and Mr. Sparkles were able to access the computer and among other things found Yue-bing had kept a list of titles the group had released in the last several months.

Sindobook:
Bob was never found.  Presumably he left between the time the phone call was made and the small animals arrived at the apartment.  Yue-bing's disappearance was only to be expected, she must have run away in fear knowing the small animals would not spare her life for her crimes this time.  The pig and the rest of the team returned home and fortunately the damage Yue-bing had done was confined to only one title.

In this way, the pig's kindness to Bob in the past was repaid.  Those who had doubted him for not ordering that Bob be fed to Sam for his crimes back then were among to the first note the wisdom of his actions.
