What happened to the pig.

In the early morning hours of Nov 6, 2009, a rogue racoon had gone rabid and was terrorizing bunnies at the local bunny hangout (one of those small mini-parks off the side of the road).  Hapless to defend themselves, with already several of their number killed, the bunnies called up Mikey who subsequently woke up the pig, Mr. Sparkles, and Simon, asking them to help him dispose of the racoon. 

The four small animals only had to show up at the now abandoned park for the racoon to come charging out, frothing at the mouth and showing little sanity.  Talking would have useless, Mikey charged right at him with the others in close formation at his flanks.  Mikey understood that taking out a racoon would be no easy task, but the four small animals had already worked out plans for this type of emergency.

Just before the racoon got into range, Mikey did a ferret dance and sidestepped to the right.  The racoon tried to correct, but could not in time.  Simon rammed the racoon with the full force of his charge, then turned and kicked him with his strong rear legs.  The racoon, not to be deterred, leapt onto Simon and sank his teeth into the back of Simon's neck.  Blood was drawn.

As the racoon tried to wrap his arms around Simon, the other animals pounced.  Mikey took a huge bite out of one of the Racoon's extended arms, sending blood everywhere and seperating it from his body.  The pig and Mr. Sparkles rammed him in sync, seperating him from Simon, but also leaving Simon with a mortal wound.  Again the racoon was quick to recover, and this time it was the pig who grabbed him and used his Jujitsu to spin him around and prepare to throw him.  But the racoon grabbed onto the pig with his remaining good arm, and simply would not let go.  He tried to take a single bite out of the pig, but ended up with nothing but fur.

Mikey was quick to jump on the back of the racoon, biting down into the back of his neck and then raking him with his claws.  The racoon, however, would still not be restrained, he turned his head around and proceeded to try to bite Mikey, forcing Mikey to release the hold or otherwise risk being bitten.  Fortunately Mikey's escapade had bought the pig some vital time, and he had moved the racoon nearer to the street where a car was about to pass buy.  Even though the racoon was holding onto the pig, the pig bravely threw him into the street and into the path of the passing car.

When the car impacted the racoon, it was swept under the car's tire and crushed.  The pig himself managed to twist out of the racoon's hold shortly after, but his back was messed up and he had a lot of internal damage.

Simon died shortly after at the scene.  His last words were "Is it over?" to which Mr. Sparkles repled "Yes, it's over, we won.", and then he went limp.  The pig managed to make it home with the help of Mikey and Mr. Sparkles, but it was obvious he was not going to survive.  The pig made the final request that his friends stay by his side until he died, which they promised to do.  Within a few minutes, he went into death spasms which lasted about an hour, then shortly thereafter he stopped breathing. 

Mr. Sparkles suffered a concussion and a few broken ribs, but he is expected to make a full recovery.  Mikey suffered some minor lacerations but otherwise escaped unharmed.

What was wrong with Yue-bing.

I have been getting numerous inquiries as to what about Yue-bing made her so awful.  Here is an example from years past.  Yue-bing seemed to have no will to care about anyone's well-being than herself.

In the early days before Mikey became largely in charge of safety and security, the only significant small-animal security force was Yue-bing's aforementioned 'bunny brigade'.  At its height, this brigade-level fighting force consisted of 200 bunnies and then numerous other support personel.  This was more than enough manpower to deal with the threats of the time, an occassional snake on the loose or the like.  This was the original purpose that the bunny brigade was commissioned for, prior to Yue-bing's leadership it had kept the peace and made the world safe for small animals quite effectively.

Once Yue-bing took over the leadership of the brigade everything changed.  Rather than defending the small animal population from local threats, the brigade basically became her personal muscle to be flexed for her own needs.  Bunnies that were her political rivals would come home to their hutches to find them ransacked and looted by the brigade.  When bunnies got together to express their outrage at Yue-bing and her politics, she used the brigade to suppress these protests in a massacre whose most fitting comparison would be the Tienanmen square massacre committed by the Chinese "People's Army" in 1989.   Yue-bings repeated abuses would continue, but probably the epidamy of her psyche was understood best in her statements dealing with the security of common bunnies in the area.

In years past a human campaign to reduce the numbers of local rats and field mice resulted in a massive snake problem in the normally placid uphill sections of the area the bunny brigade was supposed to be protecting.  These transagresssions by snakes continued for 10 days, until all remaining bunnies in the area had either been wiped out or fled.  Slightly after the end of the 10 days, Yue-bing released one of her most famous statements, in person as part of one of her 'daily updates'.

"Snake intrusions in the uphill areas have been contributing to a 10% daily bunny population fatality rate in the patrolled uphill areas.  After ten days, the population fatality rate has dropped to 0%.  The matter is now considered resolved.  All hail the bunny brigade.  All hail Yue-bing for her great leadership in this hour of need."

It is ironic that this statement represented a turning point in the bunny population's protests of Yue-bing.  The next time Yue-bing tried to use the bunny brigade to supress a protest, roughly half its members proceeded to simply hop around while the other half joined the protests and Yue-bing was left with only several holdouts whom she could not hope to supress the protests with.  Other types of small animals joined the protest and Yue-bing's popularity as well as her political muscle took a serious turn for the worse.  Her loss of the bunny caucus in 2008 was the end of her public political career.
