Hello people,
We, Live-eviL, have just released another episode of Gallery Fake with Ideology fansubs.  Please download it via BT and tell us what you think about it in here and look forward to episode 5!

Now for the negative part, we're currently lacking translation aid for this series.  Gallery Fake is one of those series with lots of vocabulary about art and legal issues so it's necessary that we have a translator with exceptional skills in the language of Japanese.  The translation demand being high, the translator not only needs to have an extremely solid grasp of the language, with knowlede beyond normal 2nd or 3rd year Japanese at college, but must have some previous experience in translating. S/he must also be willing to do the necessary reseach required for accurate translation.

We also need other staff like timers, editors, etc. to continue the series, but those posts could only be filled provided we have a dedicated translator to continue the series.  If you are a Japanese speaker who meets the above criteria or if you know someone who does and would like to see us continue subbing beyong episode 5, please lend us your translation aid.  In that case, you may contact our leader gumbaloom:

Forum name: gumbaloom
AIM: gumbaloom
mail: gumbaloom@live-evil.org

Or you can talk to him in our IRC channel: #live-evil@enterthegame.com. He's normally there by the name of Professor_Goomba.

Please keep note that if help isn't found by the time we release episode 5, we plan to drop it.

Thank you for supporting us all this time.

Okay, ep 5 is out.

It's on the torrent page but not on the bots yet.

We're waiting few more days for a potential translator to show up before declaring it 'dropped'.

I guess I'm doing this post in responce to Episode 5's release.

I'm a big fan of Gallery Fake, and I am very happy with what you guys have done with the series.

Over the course of the last year or so (I've been kinda slow...), I have become an even bigger fan. I bought the Bootleg DVDs and the entire orginal Gallery Fake Manga (all 32 Volumes, ranging back to 1992!). With this stuff I have bought, I have decided to put it to good use and build a Gallery Fake website. It's been a slow process (I've been busy with other things), but I do have 24 anime episode reviews up on my site. Their short, but the cover the highlights of the episode. They also cover some of the real artwork mentioned in the show. Plus, I am building a character database as well as some other things not yet uploaded (like character cels, manga info, game info, and such). It's not officially open yet, but I'll put it here anyways: http://galleryfake.skn.fusionxhost.com/

I would love to help with your Gallery Fake project, but sadily, I do not know Japanese. I do own the Bootleg DVDs which, suprisingly, have very good subtitles. When discussing a piece of artwork, the creator and the name of the work are almost exactly what they should be. The sentance structure is fairly good, except for the intro and ending songs (too literal I think). The only issue I saw(so far, since I write my summeries of the episode on my first viewing) was with Jade's name which was sometimes called Fei-tsui. And any of the other names that weren't exact, you could pick out by ear (Like Charley vs. Charles). So, the only real help I could possibly provide the subtitles from my DVDs. I'm not sure where you all stand on this. I don't know if you want to take the high ground and say "We want to use the resources in our group only" or lesser ground and say "What ever it takes to get this series done." I know that you can't and won't just use the subtitles without checking them over. But, I think it would be much easier if the translator (if found or borrowed) had a rough copy of the translations already in front of them so they can pick out small mistakes and not write the entire thing. I figure it's better that I try to do it this way, rather than to rip the DVDs and toss them onto a tracker or something like that.

If you think this is a good idea you can contact me at one of the following ways:
AIM: andysislands
MSN: andysislands@hotmail.com
YIM: andysislands
ICQ: 228717110
E-Mail: andysislands@yahoo.com

I'm not exactly sure how to get the subtitles off the DVDs, but I am assuming that they are located on a file on the DVD which needs to be ripped off. We can worry about that later if you want them.

(Also, if anybody happens to have RAW copies of the Gallery Fake manga, in any language, can you also contact me? I would like to add them to my website so other people can view them as well.)

Okay, here is goes. We'd NEVER want to use the subtitles from a DVD, let alone bootleg ones. We need a translator. Thanks for the offer, but it's against....uhh....fansubbing ethics and policy?

If you can help by providing us a translator, being involved in the digisubbing itself or telling us about someone who is interested to join the GF subbing staff, that would help.  That's the most I could say.

That last part of the post sounded a bit offending. ^^;; even though you meant to encourage us.
A lot of people know hell lotsa Japanese and many of them didn't even learn how to speak through school learning (like me) and some of such translators are really proficient.

Problem is people with translation skills generally tend to be busy and for most of them, helping around for free with fansubbing isn't really worth it.

As for the stepping up, we did have quite a few who did actually. This happened while we were releasing 4-5. Funny, there were two people who volunteered, one a well-experinced translator for fansubs and another person with a lot art knowledge and intermediate level Japanese knowledge. Both of them sound really enthusiastic about it and was confident they'd get it done. But I haven't received a word from them ever since.

I joined like a few others because of Gallery Fake and to voice my interest in the anime series. It really is quite an interesting series and I can see how challenging it is because of all the encyclopedia like information used in each episode.

It's a pitty that there isn't a translator willing to put effort into fansubbing it but it's expected to happen these days. I think your fansubs are better than the other group that is fansubbing it too btw.
I do hope that it can be picked up again sometime in the future.

Glad to see there are more GF fans out there ^^

I also hope that maybe a translator and one person with a bit of art knowledge could team up and do this series. It was fresh and diffrent  :D

I agree it's definately a fresh and different kind of anime. It makes me think of Cowboy Bebop with the kind of music it utilizes.

It also has a feel of that NDS game (also the old GBA) Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright) with how he comes about his logic and reasoning. It's quite an enjoyable series.

This anime has a great unique style. I desperately hope Liveevil continues to sub this series in the future. The material is difficult but high honours goes to the team that completes it.
The first five episode, fantastically done. Flawless.
