Initial D 3rd Stage 2 hour movie
« on: January 19, 2006, 05:29:34 am »
Has this been subbed?  Does anyone know where I could get a fansub of this stage?  I have everything in the series but this.

According to tokyopop it hasn't been licensed yet.  They don't have anything past the second stage licensed according to their vice president.

I know if it's licensed theres no sub's thats why I asked them about it.  :( guess it prolly isn't in the plans for them to release it if they didn't even know they had it licensed.

There are some US webshops that carry Initial D 3rd stage with English subs, but if you say there's no US-release they must be bootlegs.

Also, YesAsia has it for $5.99, but only Chinese subtitles ;D

The Grand on High licensing list states - "At least both TV series and the OVA". eg Initial D 1st, 2nd and 3rd Stage. Unless you can somehow prove that the AnimeonDVD Grand on High Licensing list is wrong and supply them with convincing evidence that it's not licensed so that they change their websites it's licensed mate. All fansubbers consider the AnimeonDVD Grand on high licensing list as the definitive reference as to whether something's licensed or not.

So unless you got evidence convincing enough to make AnimeonDVD change their website this matter is closed.

I wasn't complaining.  I was just explaining that the reason I asked (seeing as I know that licensed anime is off limits) was because I was under the impression that it was not licensed.  I'll send another email to the guy in charge of licensing at tokyopop again and see if he can clarify why he told me it wasn't.  Thats all.

I have a confirmation email from Steve Galloway, VP of Tokyo Pop and person in charge of licensing, confirming that they do not have this licensed yet.  Would this be enough to get AnimeonDVD to clarify their license state to reflect that tokyo pop has only licensed 1st 2nd and Extra stage?

Mr Galloway,

I appologize for bothering you again but I was wondering if you have the
Initial D 3rd Stage 2 Hour Movie licensed and if there are any plans to
release it anytime soon?  Do you have any other anime coming out on dvd
release your website only shows manga?

And My Original email which was apparently dealing only with 4th stage.

Right now there is no deal with the publisher that would allow us to
release 4th stage.  Will let you know when things change.  Thanks.

Steve Galloway,

Avex has released a 4th stage of Initial D in Japan, taking the anime
series beyond the 14 dvd's you have released already.  I was wondering
if there are any plans in the works for there to be an american release
of these dvd's or will I need to look beyond TokyoPop to complete my
Initial D collection.  I know many collectors aren't crazy about your
edited versions I however do like them simply because the voices fit the
charectors alot better than the originals.  I'd preffer to by official
copies of the 4th stage rather than have to get fansubs...  Please
respond with an answer this is the second email I have sent tokyopop and
the first one several weeks ago has so far gone unanswered.

Ok you've proved your point. This to say the least is surprising o_o.

Well I can tell you right now that you will NOT see Initial D 3rd Stage subs from L-E/IDE so dont ask us. Look elsewhere for your fansubs of that.

In all my time I've never seen fansubs of 3rd Stage so I wish you luck o_o

That's cool.

Found some already, not as good as yours though.

Didn't mean to be a pest was just interested in seeing the movie, and clearing up the confusion that was going around.

The Grand on High licensing list states - "At least both TV series and the OVA". eg Initial D 1st, 2nd and 3rd Stage.

I think this is where the confusion was coming from.  OVA = Extra Stage, while 3rd Stage = movie.  The Grand on High licensing list is correct.

There's also the battle stages, which are basically just races from the series...

Also not licensed yet and I already have that.  I'm trying to track down the company that is putting out the dvd's of these unlicensed parts of initial d to find out whats going on with those. The name "anime cartoons" is pretty generic though so they might just be backroom things.

Raven it used to say "Initial D TV show and OVA"  Everyone was confused on the OVA.  Once I got things cleared up directly from tokyo pop the good people over at animeondvd.com edited their website to clarify the confusion once there was official word from tokyopop.
