What got you started into Anime?

bobby6:
I got started on anime after I met my current boyfriend 3 years ago. He was into all of the "plotless fighting" animes so whenever I hung out with his group of friends I'd get stuck watching them. It was almost enough to make me hate anime actually, until I discovered one day that there was a whole world of other better genres to choose from. I've been hooked ever since ;D

OniBlood the LZ:
Hah I'd say dragon ball use to come on Fox in the morning like 11 years ago then it was robotech and gundam, oulaw star.

When I was little, anime was just the same as any other cartoons I saw on Saturday morning or right after school (4pm used to be the haven for high quality toonin', y'know?). The first two I can recall that I really dug on was Voltron and G-force (they call it Battle of the Planets, right?), closely followed by ol' DiC Sailor Moon (the horror!) and some Speed Racer.

Once I got the internet when I was twelve or so, and started noticing..hey..there's MORE of this stuff? Huh! I really got bitten. Toonami helped that along, too, haha. But once I got hooked on the Pokemon cards, that not only fueled my anime cravings, but my desire to draw.

But man, I'd love to see some ol' G-force for nostalgia's sake...Jun was my hero!

Draconis:
Many a moons ago when I was 10 my mother's Boyfriend introduced me to devil hunter Yohkko on VHS...then came Vampire Hunter D, Akira...and eventually Ghost in the shell.

The first series I saw on television was Ronin Warriors(english name)  I forget what station it came on but I saw nearly the entire series and thought it was sooo much better than the American cartoons we had at the time...

last year I DL Monster and was almost in disbelief to how deep the characters were...I saw a live action was suppose to me made but never was...I suppose 71 episodes is hard to condense. And me personally I found all 71 to be important to the story development. The ending still confuses me though...long live Dr.Tenma

fast forward to today and my eyes are glued to Death Note and Bleach

If you are from the states you started off watching Voltron and Speedracer and you didn't even know it.  Thundercats is an American animated Tv show.  But What got me hooked was that like the previous poster stated a long long long long time ago like 11-15 years ago some affliated stations use to run Monkey Magic and ORIGINAL Dragonball stupid early in the morning like on Sunday and Saturday and thats when the bug hit my butt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monkey_Magic_%28animated_series%2
