Sindobook:

--- End quote ---
But seriously who would want to wear a device like this?  Does he control the armor or does the armor control him; in the end the armor is better suited to survival, adaptation; woudln't the armor become dominant and control the submissive user?  Why not operate in "hyper defensive" mode all the time, if that is the mode where everything is done to defeat one's enemies?  It's like people who use drugs, they may be in control up to the point they use the drug, then the drug slowly gains control over time until it dominates their consciousness (even when they're not actively using the drug, that's all they can think about).

Shadic:
Hyper Defensive Mode only happens when the user is unconsious to ensure the survival of the user and suit. In Hyper Defensive Mode it is strong and does everything possible but has no humanity nor intelligence so it cannot distinguish between friend and foe. So it will simply crush anything that moves, it's not like you can switch to it at will. But it will only switch to this mode if the user can no longer defend him/herself while the threat is still there.

For example in one of the episodes the enemy uses mind-control to turn the guy's father against him. He wouldn't use any weapons to fight back because that's his father, ultimately that got him killed and his father crushed his brain completely. At that point Guyver entered Hyper Defensive mode and fought back with everything it's got while it makes repairs to the user.

Sindobook:
Not sure I understand, even modern-day a military machine can differentiate between friend and foe, it's called IFF.  Anytime military units work together and in the same area, such a system is of critical importance.  Esp. important with modern-day weapons where you often times don't even have visual of what you're shooting at.

As the article says, this isn't 'science fiction' such systems have been around for 60 years.
If they're sending military units into the same area without some kind of system (for identifying each other as friendly), it's just plain irresponsible.  Worst case it might go bonkers and kill a few civvies, but it shouldn't turn on it's own friendlies as long as the IFF systems are functional.

Shadic:
Your going on the basis that Guyver is a Machine. Guyver is a Bio-Booster Armor. No Operation System no nothing, it works completely on instinct. Something attacks it, it will fight back. The show DOES show us that it will protect it's friendlies as long as the user is conscious, it's linked with the User's brain so when the user thinks he needs to protect a certain person and danger comes near them like someone shoots a bullet at his friend Guyver instinctively reacts to the user's thought to wanting to protect his friend and blast the bullet as a reflect.(Kind of like how a mother would instinctively shield their child from harm without having to think) But if the user is unconsious or dead Guyver will fight on instinct and will attack anything that it perceives as a threat, it will then only look out for itself to ensure survival while it restore the user.

Also Guyver is an alien armor not human made it's Alien who specializes in genetic manipulation.
