Make no mistake.... this is not a joke. The production value will be high, but above all, we will have fun making this. So far there are 22 different audio tracks waiting to be filled in!

Willow is putting the finishing touches on the subtitle script and then it goes to Sun and Gimp to become the dubbing script. Once the script is in production, I will push harder to find people to fill all the roles.

GET YOUR AUDITIONS IN NOW! :D

Thanks,

Look what someone posted in the Creamy Mami thread, of all things. We are a diverse set of leachers.  ;)

PS: how about the Captain Harlock 1978 movie, by the way? I thought it was supposed to be in qc long ago... Has it actually been translated at all? Can I help? ::) (It's the only Harlock stuff I've never seen in my life... Only seen a few screenshots... Would be curious to watch it!)

Funny you should ask that. I was actually editing it when I noticed you post and went to read it. The English translation has been transcribed from the CornPone release. I've almost finished the timing and typesetting. Yaoiboy is doing his magic with audio and video processing. People have auditioned for the voice dub. (Well, most, I still haven't gotten around to submitting mine. <grin>)

In other words, things are progressing quite nicely. But when it will actually get out, who knows?  ???

If you're serious about wanting to help, then talk to YaoiBoy in IRC channel #live-evil@irc.enterthegame.com. He's doing a pretty good job at attracting good talent to work on the various Matsomoto anime series. And his own work is awesome, particularly when it comes to the audio magic he adds to the fansubs.

Well folks,

The Japanese script is in! WillowD has done a fine job with it. If you need a copy of the raw movie AVI and the script for study, please let me know and I'll arrange to get it to you.  With the help of Sun_Tze and Crypticgimp, the English ADR script begins production NOW! Get those auditions in!!!

Thanks!

Willow, what is CornPone? Is it an analog fansub group from yore?
I didn't know you were making a dub. The idea sounds a bit silly to me... I hope you'll still offer a "real" fansub (or even just the raw, thank you ::)). I'd be more comfortable with the original Japanese dialogue.

someone with a german accent for harlock methinks, since he's from austria  :D

ve vill kill der mazone  :P
Actually, he is of German descendance.
His family is supposedly from Heiligenstadt, in Germany. There's also a "Heiligenstatt" in Austria, but as you can see, it's not the same spelling.

Hi there,

ConePoneFlicks is an independant film studio that cut their teeth on making fansubs of Matsumoto Anime on VHS. They don't do fansubs anymore, but they graciously allow us to use their translation for our new digital fansub. Part of the agreement is that we will digitize and release the old VHS version as well. They make their own original movies and parodies. They are pretty hilarious and worth a look. http://www.cornponeflicks.org/. Just don't go there asking about Harlock as they will send you to the door! :o

As for a Japanese version of the movie, you will have a choice of how you want to watch this. I always include the original Japanese track along with our new remastered ones. If you want to watch the original Japanese version, with or without subtitles, you will have that option at the click of a mouse. ;)

Thanks so much,

Well... That's cool...
How about releasing the digitized version right now, by the way? ;D

Need to get the dubbing cast ready and dub it first before we can think about releasing it.  ;D

We are slowly getting there. Sun is working his way through the creation of the dub script. I have a person coming over this weekend to read some lines. A potential Harlock! ^_~

Peace,

It may be fun for all of you, good for you, but it's still a pity you don't release the digitized ConePone fansub beforehand  :-\

I certainly don't have an issue with releasing the VHS version first. I'd like to think that people prefer the DVD version, but I agree it isn't fair to make everyone else who doesn't care about it wait. Getting it well seeded is a challenge though. I'll see what I can do.
