Current & Future L-E Projects / Re: initial d 4th stage ep. 11 and 12
« on: March 12, 2005, 06:33:21 am »
Hehe I'm inclined to agree with the general opinion of the people posting here..

Simple fact is this, when you're fansubbing you have IRC open and you have substation alpha/medusa open. Fansubbing is one of the rare things where there is such direct contact between the person doing it and the person who derrives benefit from it.

I've been in the game for just over a year now and I can tell you from experience, if you're hanging out in a channel at the same time as trying to get fansubbing work done, its incredibly distracting seeing people asking "when will X be out".  At least for me when such conversation is happening I find it very difficult to concentrate on my work. When you come on IRC to ask "when will ID4 eps XX be out" just remember that you are probably just distracting the people who work on the show from getting the job done.

Its a common courtesy across the whole fansubbing world that one does not ask when new eps are coming out. L-E is not on its own in not giving "status updates". Look at animesuki theres a pinned thread saying "Dont ask when the next ep will be out".

The simple reason as has been stated many times before is people have lives. I'm doing a Masters Degree and I have a 70 credit dissertation in the works. This comes BEFORE the work I'm doing on typesetting Shin Kaguya Shima Densetsu. However people are happy to wait because they know that there will be quality work done.

Just because someone is being slow with their bit of the job doesnt mean they care about the show it just means that they are sticking to the golden rule of fansubbing

REAL LIFE COMES FIRST

Hi folks,

Heres a thread for all questions / comments related to the project to sub Shin Kaguya Shima Densetsu otherwise known as the New Legend of Kaguya Island.

Myself as typesetter / encoder and Aniko as translator are the project leads.

If you got any questions please feel free to ask them here.

We're progressing nicely but we can't give you an ETA on when the full musical will be finished - its done when its done.  Both myself and Aniko are University students so of course schoolwork has to come first.

So far we've finished the commercial and the service numbers. All feedback is appreciated. I hope that they give an idea of the standards to expect when we finish the main musical.

Some FAQ's

1) Do you need raws ?
No thanks, I've got all the myu DVD's which have been released so far at home and have nice vobs to encode from =). The Fumina box is pretty by the way.

2) Will you sub everything.
We will sub everything which means the musical itself, the DVD making of, clips from the VHS omake and the service numbers and commercial which are already released.

3) Do you know when the final musical will be released
Nope sorry, its done when its done, schoolwork has to come first but rest assured it will be as good as we can make it.

4) What is Shin Kaguya Shima Densetsu
SKSD is a remake of the 1999 Musical Kaguya Shima Densetsu and it alters / changes the story around adding some new elements and songs.

5) Will you sub this musicals Kaiteban ?
The likelihood is not because from all reports its very very similiar to SKSD so it would be a little boring to work on something again which you've been working on for so long. HOWEVER its pretty likely that we will sub the SKSDK Making of as that will have Marina Kuroki's graduation featured in it XD;.

6) What is a preorder VHS and what is an Omake ?
Since the 1998 musical Shin Densetsu Kourin there has been an option for theatre visitors to order preorder versions of the Musical at the Theatre. The bonus of preordering is that they received the VHS 2 months before the commercial release of the musical and also there is an omake at the end of the tape or extra feature. This is not found on normal commercial tapes. The omake contains behind the scenes footage from the musical, adlibs and clips from the senshuuraku (final) performance of the musical.

With the advent of musicals being made available on DVD, they contained a “Making Of” documntary. The footage is similiar to the Omake but there are differences between them.

7) Explanation of the clips in the VHS Omake Excerpts
The first clip is the VHS Omake Adlibs which are jokes which are put in to the senshuuraku(final) performance of the Musical and make fun of popular Japanese culture and news events. The VHS Omake adlibs are different to the ones on the DVD Making of.

The second clip is taken from the Senshuuraku service numbers where Loof Merrow sings "The Female Pirate's Strategy" again but she has some unexpected help.

Shirota Yuu (the Actor playing Tuxedo Kamen) graduated from the myu during Shin Kaguya Shima Densetsu and the 3rd clip is taken from his final performance of Prince of the Earth and what happens afterwards. Prince of the Earth is one of Tuxedo Kamen's image songs. This song is included in the DVD making of and hence we've only included what happened afterwards.

The final clip is what happened after the senshuuraku performance of Ginga No Sanctuary. Ginga No Sanctuary is the song which is sung at the end of Senshuuraku performances, the full performance of Ginga No Sanctuary will be in the DVD making of. We only included what happened after as its not present in the DVD making of.

8) Current Project Status
Main Musical - Part 1 Released Part 2 Released
DVD Making of - Released
VHS omake clips - Released
Service Numbers - Released
Commercial - Released
DVD ISO Image - Released

I'll add more FAQ's as and when they arise.

Regards

Any Chinese translator who would be interested in some work (preferably Cantonese) please introduce yourself to either Tofusensei, Vash or myself in channel if you have the opportunity.

Also any timers who are experienced in timing Chinese would be great as well ^_^;;

I would *hope* there is an OST. Points to all the GE999 CD's. If anyone finds the lowdown on an OST i'd be their best friend forever O_O.
