Cool.  Didn't know about that option.  I did notice that -H makes it look more impressive.  :)

computer:~ bmfrosty$ df -H /Volumes/DAMAGE\;NAS-01-0A-51/
Filesystem                             Size   Used  Avail Capacity  Mounted on
//DAMAGE;BMFROSTY@NAS-01-0A-51/MEDIA   1.5T   982G   472G    68%    /Volumes/DAMAGE;NAS-01-0A-51
computer:~ bmfrosty$ df -h /Volumes/DAMAGE\;NAS-01-0A-51/
Filesystem                             Size   Used  Avail Capacity  Mounted on
//DAMAGE;BMFROSTY@NAS-01-0A-51/MEDIA   1.3T   915G   439G    68%    /Volumes/DAMAGE;NAS-01-0A-51
computer:~ bmfrosty$

Unfortunately counting bytes in base 10 is silly, but I guess it makes the numbers on the hard drive boxes look more impressive.

Jesus, over 1TB of anime. To much mate.

I prolly have less than 120GB,
I only dl what I want to watch, and even then I barely have time to watch anime.

Well I am poor and I am still using my first ever computer which I purchased years ago.  My hard disk total capacity is 40 GB and far as I am concerned with the low bandwidth of 10 kbps I get only 1, 2 kb/s download speed and with that I have managed to download around 35 GB of anime in the last six months...and when my hard disks started showing less than 100 mb disk space per drive, I started transferring them to Cds (I haven't got a DVD writer).
Now I have around 12 GB of hard disk spave left, 8 GB of anime still stored on PC, and I have managed to burn the previous material to 30 700MB Cds...and as you can probably calculate, when I have no electricity problems and I stay home....my PC is on for over 20 hours and I am always downloading and waiting to get the downloadinf finished with my snail-like speed. :'(

between my 6 systems I have close to 3 TB of space to play with and I have my anime and my video files spanned across them.

I don't I dont know what the total free/used ratio is but im sure it is less than 50%

and that is not even counting all the stuff that I have saved to DVD :P

I have about 60GB of unlicensed anime stored on my hard drive. Also have some anime movies not released here yet. It includes one of my current favorite movies: Ultraman. :P Yes, I'm lazy to import movies. XD

I'm not even counting the ones recorded on CDs in the past... D:

Well, of what I' ve heard...to buy a new Pentium IV 1 Ghz here with something close to 60 GB of space, I would have to pay as much as 4 months worth of my monthly salary (when I began working that is!)...lol

Actually, you'll be surprised at how cheap some hard drives are nowadays. ^_^ Western Digital is always a good brand to buy, and here are some 120GB hard drives for around $60 online.

http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_attrib.php?page_id=11&form_keyword=western+digital+120GB+hard+drive&rd=1

Pricegrabber.com is a pretty good site for searching up prices. :)

And, of course, NewEgg.com usually have decently priced items up on the front page, like a 320GB HDD for ~$114 and a 250GB HDD going for ~$75. ;D

Well how much would it cost me to buyan Athlon?
Title: Re: How Many Gigs
Post by: KunoMochi on May 28, 2006, 06:18:31 am
Depends on which type of processor you are looking for.

Athlon 64 +2800  -  ~$110.00
Athlon 64 +3800  -  ~$279.00
Athlon 64 X2 +3800 Dual Core  -  ~$293.00
Note: Dual Core processors are usually best if you tend to run many programs at a time. Having more than one processor sharing loads minimizes the chance of a slowdown in the system. For example, one can be encoding a video while simultaneously doing something else without having to worry much.

I've probably got around 500-700GB lying around. I lost track of it, since most of it is comprised of DVDs.

Or just do what I do and have nor than one system and have them dedicated to any given task :P
