General Forum / OTAKON 2006 FANSUBBER SUITE, room available
« on: July 12, 2006, 10:44:03 pm »
Ladies and gentlemen,

Please put aside any negative feelings you may have for myself or L-E and let's talk about a very exciting topic... Otakon 2006!

As you may or may not know, Otakon is the premiere anime convention on the eastern seaboard and arguably all of America. Every year, we at L-E, along with others, organize a trip there which includes a fansubbing panel at the con, nights in luxury suites at a 5 star hotel, and more alcohol+snacks than should be consumed in one weekend.

We do have plenty of room available for those who would like to come. All you need to do is get your butt to Baltimore, MD for the weekend of August 4-6.

The going rate will be $100, which includes hotel stays on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, as well as the best parties you'll ever find at an anime con. If you or anyone you know is interested in coming and partying with us, just let me know. You may PM me on here, IM me at Tofusensei on AIM, msg Tofusensei on irc.enterthegame.com, or send me an email at Tofusensei@live-evil.org

We will allow groups of people to stay with us, and I guarantee much fun will be had by all. I might even have to bring the karaoke machine again :X

See you there!

For more information on Otakon, go to the website at www.otakon.com

You really should pre-register at the site to secure a badge for the weekend. The current rate is $60.

Thanks!!

Please respond in this thread if you are going to the con. Even if you cannot stay with us, you're welcome to party :)

Live-eviL Recruitment Center / NOW RECRUITING: Translator(s)
« on: April 23, 2006, 02:03:13 pm »
Live-eviL Fansubs has recently had two translators go AWOL. This has led to the stalling of the following projects:

Gallery Fake
The Snow Queen
Detective Academy Q

We own the R2 DVDs for all of these shows and would like to continue subbing them at a decent speed. If anyone is willing to help on these or any other projects, please contact on irc (#live-evil on irc.enterthegame.com), on our web forum (http://forum.live-evil.org), [contact info deleted], or here.

If you are not sure of your skills, but want to give it a shot, that is okay too. I will gladly give you honest feedback. Thank you so much.

-Tofu

UPDATE: Tofu is no longer active.  Please do not contact him.  Instead, contact any op in our irc channel, reply here, or email tlynnec@live-evil.org or yaoiboy@live-evil.org. Thanks! -tlynnec

Hi guys. Long time no post.

I am proud to say that I helped out in the making of a video for the International Film Channel on the history of fansubbing. It goes from the early days all the way to the modern bit torrent model.

Anyway, it's definitely worth watching either as a history lesson or a trip down memory lane. IFC.com is tracking the number of hits so if it get watched a lot they will commission more episodes! Please watch it and tell your friends!

Anyway, to watch the video is a little tricky. Please follow these instructions:

Go to ifc.com (if, for some reason, you have trouble getting into that, try ifc.com/news), click on “UNCUT ON DEMAND” at the top of the page. When the viewer pops up, click “pause” to stop the exceptionally loud promo, make sure it is on "all videos" then click “SERIES,” and then “SAMURAI 7.” The two episodes for “ANIME in the USA” are at the top of the menu. My starring role is in “Tapes from the Underground,” but be sure to check out “Eisenstein-Sensei” as well.

Enjoy! Please leave your comments~

We're going to be subtitling this show on a weekly basis, so keep coming back for more.

Any comments? ^^;

I just thought you Matsumoto fans would like to know this news. They just recently announced that a second season of Galaxy Railways is in the works! Not sure when it will begin airing (I'd venture to guess sometime this Fall), but I assure you, barring licensing, we WILL be subtitling this show.

Most likely with our friends at AnimeOne again, along with Froth-Bite. :)

Cheers!

Current & Future L-E Projects / Windaria Discussion Thread
« on: April 01, 2005, 08:07:46 am »
Please use this thread to discuss the movie.

Also, before anyone points it out, the rights to the Japanese full-length version of Windaria are not owned by any English language distributor at this time. Streamline's license has expired and ADV's hacked version is not the one we subtitled. We have confirmed this directly with ADV ourselves. (Well, NoSanninWa from animesuki did) :)

Well, what did you guys think?

Current & Future L-E Projects / Ideas for More Matsumoto Series later on
« on: February 11, 2005, 03:47:51 pm »
I'm not talking about now, but there are 2 very classic Matsumoto series that are coming out or have come out on DVD. I'd love very much for either us or another competent group to subtitle them eventually. Unfortunately since L-E is working some older projects through the pipeline (like Rose of Versailles, Yawara, and GE999) for now, we cannot tackle these any time soon. But I just want to make it public my desire to see these subtitled.

Recently Central-Anime has been subbing Space Battleship Yamato TV and AUF has been subbing the Captain Harlock 1978 TV series, so it is a regular renaissance for Matsumoto television!

Anyway, the series I am talking about are Endless Road SSX (mugen kidou SSX), and the Queen Millennia TV series (新竹取物語 1000年女王). The DVD box for Endless Road SSX came out last October but the first press is sold out. Hopefully it'll go back for sale soon. And the box for Queen Millennia comes out in June, http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007OE0Z0/qid%3D1107799729/250-0552355-3022625

Endless Road SSX is a continuation of the classic 'Arcadia of my Youth' Movie from 1982. http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=DSTD-2357

Anyway, I promise you lots of of current projects from L-E in the very immediate future. Please do not lose hope in us as we've been struggling lately but we are bouncing back with a new vigor like you've never seen from us before. You'll understand what I am talking about in a month or two. I promise all you Matsumoto fans that we will not disappoint, your Maetel dreams will come true very very soon.

On a more serious note, if anyone is seriously interested in these shows and would actually consider purchasing the DVD sources for them that would be a HUGE first step in getting them subtitled eventually. I personally do not have the resources to buy them at this time. Don't get me wrong, we're not asking deliberately for sponsors, but if someone has the money and wants to own a piece of these shows while helping out the anime community and Matsumoto (and classic anime) fans like yourself, then please feel free to do so. It would be the best gift you could give back to the community. If you are interested in purchasing these at all, let me know.

Current & Future L-E Projects / Sailor Moon Musical(s)
« on: December 25, 2004, 08:54:06 pm »
Pasted from main page:

On this joyous occasion we’d like to offer up a Christmas present to all of you, our dear fans. We’ve released a preview of a release we will have shortly into the new year. It is a karaoke’d rendition of Jingle Bells from a live-action fan event about Sailor Moon. It is quite cute and fits the season perfectly, and is a small download (19MB). :) Swing by the irc channel at #live-evil on irc.enterthegame.com (go to www.mirc.com for more information on irc), or get it off of bit torrent at:  http://a.scarywater.net/live-evil/%5BL-E%5DBSSM-Musical_-_BlackLadyKFankan_-_JingleBells(1EA8C12D).avi.torrent

FILE INFO:

Filesize is 19,656,704 bytes, the CRC is 1EA8C12D, and the md5 hash is 931de2fd89a3c4c5e61711d54bcd5469.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to sing Jingle Bells in Japanese, now is your chance ;)

Some information on what this clip is from is supplied by our great timer gumbaloom:

“Sailor Moon musicals are part of the Sailor Moon franchise and were created on the back of the success of the anime. The musicals began in 1993 with Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen and they have continued with 4 different actresses playing Sailor Moon to the present day. The current Sailor Moon is Marina Kuroki and she has played this role since 2001. She will be graduating from the Musicals on January 16th 2005.
As a taster for full musicals next year we bring you a short Christmas themed clip of “Jingle Bells” from the Fankansha event for Tanjou ! Ankoku No Princess Black Lady Kaiteban which was Marina’s second musical which was held from the 9th to the 11th November 2001 prior to the Musical which went on stage in January of 2002. Fankansha events are held approximately 2 months prior to the debut of a new musical and they are a special peformance for the fans of these musicals.”

Look out for a full-length subbed & karaoked musical shortly into the new year subbed by Live-eviL’s own pair of turtledoves, gumbaloom and Aniko. ^^ It’s 140 minutes of fun, singing, and dancing. We’ll more than likely continue subtitling these in the future! Post on our forums and let us know what you think of this new direction L-E is going to branch off into. :)

Well, what do you think?

Current & Future L-E Projects / Insert song used in Galaxy Express 999 Ep 5
« on: September 27, 2004, 11:12:22 am »
Hi, I meant to translate this song for you guys and have it subtitled in the episode, but decided in the end that it wasn't worth the effort involved (it would have delayed the release, etc etc etc).

So I figured I'd reward the forum dwellers by posting the translation here. ^^

This song is significant because it is being played in the background while

*** SPOILER ***

Shadow is pretending to be Tetsurou's mother and luring him out.

The name of the song is 'Tetsurou's Lullaby'

So without further ado:

omeme o tojite
tetsurou wa ii ko
saa otobi aoi kotori no you ni
funwari fuwafuwa
funwari fuwafuwa
chiisa na poketto wa karappo demo
ima ni ima ni kitto
shiawase san ga mukaetekureru
oyasumi tetsurou oyasumi
oyasumi tetsurou oyasumi

Close your eyes, baby.
That's a good boy, Tetsurou.
Yes, it's flying like a small blue bird.
Soft, fluffy...
Soft, fluffy...
Even if your tiny pockets are empty,
now, yes, now,
Happiness is coming to find you.
Good night, Tetsurou, good night.
Good night, Tetsurou, good night.

This song is played at 14:11 in episode 5 of Galaxy Express 999.

General Forum / OFFICIAL LIVE-EVIL OTAKON 2K4 PARTY!
« on: July 11, 2004, 01:39:42 am »
Okay, for the past two years as you may or may not know, some members of Live-eviL, as well as other established fansub groups, have been organizing a panel on digital fansubbing at Otakon. Although I invite all of you to come to the panel and say hi and see exactly what it is we do here, that's not the point of my post.

Consider this an official invitation to the third annual Fansubber's Party (formerly known as OMG FANSUBBAZ!), in a to-be-disclosed hotel suite. Just to give you an idea of what kind of party we throw, last year we had a $4000/night presidential suite complete with a full bar, jacuzzi, a grand piano, and professional bartenders. All of it is free of charge but we do take donations if you're kind enough to do so (food, drinks, cash to tip the bartender and help reimburse for the cost of everything). The only time we ask for money is if you plan on staying the night, in which case we don't accept freeloaders :P (Unless you are female, then maybe you can sweet-talk the hosts :D).

This year we will have DDR, video games, a big lan party, and a japanese karaoke box.

Post here if you're interested in coming!
