So, I searched the forum, and no topics/posts came up.
(There was one on just "Lamune", which is a completely unrelated anime.)

I also didn't see this in the Current/Past/Dropped Projects page, nor the Project Status page.
(Daughter of Twenty Faces also isn't on there, but my concern is with 40 Fire.)

I know firsthand that DVDs of the 40Fire series are notoriously difficult to find, and even VHS seems non-existant.

So, does live-evil actually have all the episodes (26?), or was this epidose 1 release just a teaser?

Yeah, I realized today before I can back to the forums to read the replies that I had most definately pushed the topic much too far. I was overly upset from the expressed lack of attention Initial D was gettin especially since people in the forums didn't even seem to care any longer. I understand that you have troubles and me acting like a dirt bag was inappropriate. It's really aggravating watching people talk about something they say their going to do like they don't care about their work especially when they can admit so easily that they take such a long period to complete it. I realized that this definately isn't the case for all of your other releases and didn't have any good explanations for what was going wrong. No one can say that L-E does a half done job and I do appreciate what you do. Thank you for the explanation. I apologize for being so out of line, that was my pent up frustration being released since I could not explain it away. I've known you didn't owe me anything and I was frustrated that it seemed like people weren't feeling that they owe it to themselves who planned to work on this.

Thank you for subbing this for the rest of us. I'm ashamed that more fans don't have the ability or determination to help out. Gumbaloom does the best she can I believe and it shows. I wish the whole project hadn't come so ridiculously pulled apart during its operation. Maybe I'll create my own screenname here if you begin to sub a different anime I enjoy and thank you for the answers to my frustration.

I have actually already downloaded that and watched it two weeks ago. If you would read my replies, you would know that this isn't about that.

P.S. I am actually writing a paper for school right now. This is just good for taking breaks.  :-X

    * Initial D 4th Stage
      - Episode 23-24 - Timing raws made, awaiting translation

Its a current project. It is too bad that it went from 14 episodes to 24 episodes. It's also too bad that it seems L-E is going to be waiting for a licensing announcement. The series is over... It doesn't take a month to translate, especially when other groups have halfway done the work for you. I don't see a real excuse as it shouldn't take a large chunk of time by this point. I really don't expect an apology. I don't think they deserve my gratitude for claiming to accomplish something thats been already been done twice over by now. It was nice to try, but so much time has been wasted that it ruined it for the people that should matter: the fans. I.E. Not the people who are hanging around the forums here with nothing better to see or say but anything that can get their post count up. I am ashamed that L-E sucked the excitement out of the scene and don't have any regrets. It's ok if you don't like the series, but it's not ok to ruin it for others and allow the spread of prejudice. L-E asked for these complaints to happen when they started the project with such weak real intent. Don't bribe the fans to be quiet with delays, its too akin to locking your dog outside for weeks at a time for wanting the attention they've come to expect. That dog didn't know any better because it longs for what it misses and came to expect. Just don't expect that dog to be man's best friend when it gets all the attention it could wish for from the girl next door.

To be honest, L-E staff is just apathetic to it in general. Other projects have priori. I mean, when you have a 3 man FAN operation, things can go pretty smoothly, as they all LIKE WHAT THEY ARE SUBBING. Honestly, I don't have much against cars (Infact, I drive one too Shocked Shocked) but when there aren't any fans of the show subbing it, Lethargy and sloth can really hinder things.

That's my point and thats why my argument is with L-E. Real fans could have done a much better job. Why even start fansubbing an anime if your not a fan? They just don't care about it and shouldn't have hurt the ID scene with their apathy to begin with. Too immature of fansubbers to even care about the real fans of them and the series. If your trying to be a role model, you don't tell everyone you care about that they can shove it because you don't care about them. Show some sympathy to the fans or their won't be any left as it seems to be the case here.

@Bastard
Make me. I will go away when L-E comes through on their claim with the release of the final episode or an apology for being lethargic.

Other major fansubbing groups were looking to pick this up and do a better job with it that L-E ousted in the beginning. Now we have these one or two other fansub groups trying to pick up slack that are comprised of one or two people at the most who do it within two weeks themselves without even having to worry if L-E is going to release their own first. Thats embarrassing.

L-E wasn't just sitting there, oh look, here is this anime (not unpopular in Japan or the US, I mean its pay per view there) that no one seems to want to fansub. Guess I'd better bite the bullet on this one. I would be one to bet they wanted the recognition and thats why they made the series so high quality and quickly in the beginning. Not because they liked it, but mostly to show off. Feel free to show off again guys and finish what you started.

Are we all waiting for Initial D to be licensed now? Episode 24 came out on March 18th? 23 days ago today. (Is it a joke that you are going to make the 24th release on the 24th day? I wouldn't laugh)

It's all been good high quality work and, yeah, other groups subbed it WEEKS ago, but I thought the point of fansubs was to let us watch them while they are currently not planned to be released in the US. Then you supposively expect us all to actually buy the dvd's if it is (which this is a near guarentee for this anime) after it's licensed? So why then do we wait so long for a "high quality" release? Why would I want to buy the dvd if I already have a copy of your such high quality fansubs burned right here and now?

You have two new "high quality" releases a week from your group alone. You've admitted before that not many who work on these are big fans of Initial D, but at least show the pride for your group a little more by releasing within a decent time period. It's embarrassing that you've done 23 episodes, but still can't get your act together for the very last one. It's only become worse. You even threaten delays if we speak out about it. How can you negatively reinforce a punishment that you've pushed on us all along? You didn't have to even fansub them (especially since your not even real fans). Other people who were real fans were forced to fansub them after you knocked out competition for the project in the beginning. Back then, you got the subs out perfectly within a week. That was where your true support came from and why the forums for ID have died now. Just look at the new thread post number

No ID4 isn't dropped. Real life gets in the way you know etc etc. If you're DESPERATE to see it theres always raws and we arent the only group subbing ID4...

-gumbaloom

Your real life got in the way is understandable. I'm sure that the other projects suffered as well, ne? All I read into it is a lot of apathy.  I'll check back in June to see if you decided to start on the time by THEN. People have learned Japanese enough to get the gist of the episode in the time it takes you to get out an episode. At least your educating others right?

*sigh*  I knew it didn't sound right.  No, I'm not misguided, yes I'm aware they have lives and such.  I'm also aware that I just can barely stand waiting the week one must wait between episodes.  Having to wait a minimum of one month between each episode is just going to kill me, and, as such, I've abandoned this series for one I can't watch (at least, not for a couple of years anyway, if I still remember by then.)  It's just too much for me to wait that long as it gets more and more dramatic and you start to get more and more into it.  The fact is, you think you're doing a service for us, but, for some of us it's crueler to dangle the carrot and snatch it away just to dangle even further out.  I'm sorry, that's just the way it feels.  And, yes, I'm aware not everyone feels this way.  Heck, I could be the only one out there, though I doubt it.  At any rate, I haven't even watch episode four after the way it killed me so long waiting for it because I finally forgot the show, and knowing that even if five comes out this very minute I have to wait another month or two to see six, I just can't bear to do that to myself.

And if I could reasonably help and see it come out faster than 1+ months between episodes I would, but, the fact of the matter is that I don't know but approximately six or seven words of Japanese and timing is just too tedius for me to maintain concentration for more than an episode or two before I can't take it anymore no matter how much I want to see it come out sooner.

It doesn't ruin the show for anyone else that it takes them 40+ days to do it?  It's been way over a month now and still no 5.  This show goes on for 39 eps.  You know if we continue at this rate none of us will ever see the end of it.  At the current rate things are going, if releases continue at the current average rate of release of apx 38 days (excluding the first because I don't know when they first picked it up, and excluding ep5 because it's still not out yet) it will take 1404 days to see the entire show.  That's 3.84 years!  This isn't IntialD or whatever, it's a show the big public broadcasting station, NHK, is airing once a week and have already aired up to ep27 of...

I'm sorry, I know I'm coming off rude, and I wish I knew a better way to say it, but, over a month per episode is just killing me.  I want to see more of this show and no one else will do it, whether because they don't care or because this group is.  Thing is, I'm not so sure this group really cares, else would we really see releases taking over a month each with only one exception (which was still nearly two weeks, though two weeks is a lot more livable.)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing.  We all have too much to do it always seems -- and speaking of hours, I routinely get up at 7:30-8 but go to sleep at 4...  :'(  Got to stop doing that...  I know how you feel.  I don't expect you to do it any faster, that's why I suggested that maybe you should just tell someone else to do it or something.  It's ok for some people for shows to come out one every so many months, but, for many of us, this is just way too much...  It shouldn't take over a year to see one series!  But, if each episode comes out at even a more optomistic rate than the 6 months you mentioned of let's say one month apart, it adds up to over a year...  And, I'm sorry, but, I subscribe to the belief that it's not a good argument to point at a worst case scenario example and say "at least it's better than THAT" and it's supposed to automatically be ok.  Anyway, I don't mean to sound "antsy" about it, and I hardly expect one episode a day or something crazy like that, but, it's driving me crazy that the only group out there even willing to touch the project is releasing only moderately better than one episode per month.

I'm not asking you to give up real life things that have to be done, nor am I asking you to spend insane numbers of hours fansubbing, instead I'm asking you if there isn't some way to convince some other group to pick it back up.  I'd say Anime-4ever, but, they are honestly discussing ah *coughs* "borrowing" your scripts rather than subbing it themselves...

At any rate, I want to reiterate the fact that I'm not accusing you or complaining about the time it takes you specifically, I'm just complaining that the only other group out there that has even touched it has all but dropped it with only one person working on it and not really even that.  Over the years, I've just gotten the impression that the fansub scene has a problem with competitiveness in a field where no money is earned.  They try to compete to see who can do the latest popular thing fastest or best and bicker like crazy that so-and-so stole this or that, but, when it comes to something like this they decide it's not important enough and just drop it because they don't want to compete.  Maybe this is wrong, but, this is how it has started to feel over the years.

Anyway, again, I'd like to apologize.  I really don't mean for it to come out this way, but, I don't know how else to put it.  I don't blame you at all, I just wonder if there isn't anything that can be done.

If the tracker information is correct, it's been >24 days since ep3 was finished and put up.  Maybe you should just tell other fansubbers out there it's ok to do it.  For some reason the fansubbing scene seems to get competitive and people either compete to see who can do it "better" or will drop it if they see someone else working on it.
