To all Captain Harlock fans:

Episode releases have now been accelerated. Unfortunately, do to the time constraints of this new schedule, I will no longer be able to provide a remastered audio track at release time. However, the OP and ED will still be in 2 channel stereo.

Sorry to anyone who was enjoying the new 5.1 channel audio. I hope to still be able to release the new audio tracks as a separate download that can be easily integrated into the releases.

Thanks so much,
YaoiBoy

Hi there.

Sorry to bother, but I've got a little problem with the Eps 27 and 28 here..

The subtitles won't show up, regardless which option I choose.

Tried mplayer and Zoom player with latest CCCP

Hi SomePlayer,

Thanks for watching our subs!

Please bear in mind that our Harlock is officially supported on Media Player Classic and The Core Media Player. MPlayer works if you switch to the unformatted subtitle track (J key). Other player software should work as well, but has not been tested. Nothing has changed in the settings for episodes 27 and 28. Are you still able to play earlier episodes?

Thanks,
YaoiBoy

Hi FlamencoRenee,

We all KNOW how I felt when I heard we did Gakuen Heaven as a troll sub. I was ready to bitch everyone out. But, I gave it a chance anyway. Guess what? Both me and my partner Adam loved it and got loads of laughs. I really wanted to be mad at it, but it really was funny to us.

I'm a huge YAOI fan and have about every YAOI/BL title available (including a number of PC games). I will say that I did not find the parody to be too over the top. Yes, we were mocking the YAOI fandom... but I can take a joke. But... what goes around, comes around! I have 2 legit YAOI/BL titles I'm working on right now that will get special edition releases when completed. I intend to release these under the Live-eviL brand. And part of me has fun imagining their faces as I force them to work on them! These are not quite as tame as Gakuen Heaven. ;)

So, don't worry... we are not a bunch of gay bashers/YAOI haters. Remember... Live-eviL was spawned from BakaMX, which brought us GRAVITATION! We also published a legit version of the translated script on Aarinfantasy's forum.

This group welcomed me openly, unlike some other groups out there... Other groups just teased me when I tried to join them. :( They really are cool people! :D

I'm truly sorry that you were offended by this. Where did you find the file? This isn't supposed to still be available as it is a licensed title and is available on DVD. If you know where it came from, please ask the person responsible to stop distributing it.

Thanks so much!

I wonder if this can help: I own the anime books for this series and I checked it with the japanese audio and it is a perfect transcription of it. It has furigana with the kanji, which is very useful.

Hi Yayoi_Yukino,

Thanks for posting to the forum! Your offer would be most helpful. We have someone who may be able to take over translation responsibilities for this show and having a transcript would be a good incentive for them to agree to the work. Please send me an email at yaoiboy @ pratertech.com or PM me on IRC and we'll get things going.

Thank you VERY much!

is the special edition just better quailty?

Hi there,

Thanks for your interest in our fansubs! Here are the differences:

1) SOURCE:
The Special Edition is mostly mastered digitally from the region 2 DVDs (episodes 1-5,11-12 were from the Italian DVD Set - will be re-released using the R2 DVD source at series completion).

The VHS version is a 2nd generation analog VHS copy from Laser Disc

2) FILE FORMAT:
The Special Edition uses the MKV (Matroska) format and  has a video resolution of 640x480

The VHS edition is an AVI at 320x240

3) AUDIO:
The Special Edition has multiple audio tracks: our new Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track and the original mono track (Early episodes have a separate 2.0 stereo track as well, but it has been proven to be unnecessary)

The VHS edition is mono only

4) SUBTITLES:
The Special Edition has multiple subtitle tracks (Formated English/French (1-6)/Unformatted English) that can be turned on and off (French tracks will be coming for the later episodes)

The VHS version is hard-subbed English

5) PREVIEWS:
The Special Edition includes all of the episode previews

The VHS only has them occasionally

6) BONUS FEATURES:
The Special Edition contains special features like Commentary tracks and alternate video tracks.

The VHS edition is just the episodes

Here is what is the same:
1) TRANSLATION:
Both versions were originally translated by Corn Pone Flicks

2) EDITING:
Both versions contain the same animated footage during the episodes (no cuts)

3) KICK ASS ANIME:
Both versions display one of the best anime classics committed to film!

NOTE: There is a great increase in quality of the Special Edition, starting with Episode 6. That is when we joined Live-eviL! :D

I hope this is helpful.

Thanks for watching,

Sorry to jump in on an old thread, but as a musician I know one true factor.  The fact that so many people steal instead of buy is what hurts industries like anime and of course... music.

This is partially true. Professional musicians (popular music) make most of their money from touring and playing gigs, not album sales. It is the record labels that directly lose money due to illegal downloading.

But illegal downloading does need to stop. On the flip side, the outrageously high prices need to stop as well. $16 for a CD ($30+ for a DVD) that costs less than a $1 to make... that is just gross. They also need to find better ways to sell their product. The vast majority of people who want and download anime/music are young, many under 18.

SOLUTION A: Use pre-paid credit/debit cards that you can buy in any drug store. However, all online vendors need to be able to accept them. Some will not take payment that doesn't verify to a name and address. For example, I could NOT use my Christmas gift card to buy something from CDJapan. >:(

SOLUTION B: Make the product available faster and provide it for download/streaming online, especially with anime.  There are secure ways to do this. They might be a bit of a hassle, but they can work. Verizon has the right idea with their V-Cast service. We need more companies to implement sales strategies like that.

The anime/manga industry is slowing down... and it needs to. There is just too much out there to sell. Heck, there is plenty of classic material out there that people are not even aware of! Look at the wonderful Matsumoto titles!!

Peace,
