It uses the original AC3 sound from the DVD. Look for AC3 filter on www.sourceforge.net .

U can just get Kazaa Lite Codec Pack and all codecs are there.
Preferred means of viewing h264 is using media player classic.
Recommended setup is ffdshow latest build + haali media spliter + media player classic for any and all h264 type files.
MKV -
Yes it supports AC3 but not everyone can get it to work right and dislike it on princple

* Haali Media Splitter 2006-02-25 (MKV,MP4,OGM,AVI)Edit: fixed typo
o Required for compliant MKV playback. Attempts to disable other MKV splitters on the system. This filter is also used for MP4 and OGM, as well as AVI. AVI is not used by default in the pack and is not recommended to do so. You will, however, need the OGM and MP4 parts for playing those files, as Windows doesn't understand those formats by itself.
* VSFilter 2.37 (SSA/ASS,SRT,VOBSUB subtitles)
o Displays subtitles. It will attempt to disable any previous DirectVobSub installations you might have.
* ffdshow 2006-04-30 CCCP build (H.264/AVC,DivX,XviD, various audio formats etc.)
o Decodes H.264, XviD, DivX, and generic MPEG-4 video. Also used for audio decoding with the following formats turned on by default: AAC, Vorbis, MP3, AC3, DTS, FLAC, TTA. If you would like to turn off ffdshow decoding for a specific video or audio format, read further down for instructions on how to do it properly. Note: this is a stripped-down and well tested ffdshow build. Do NOT assume that you can replace it with any other ffdshow version.
* WMV9VCM
o Required to play WMV9 content if you don't have Windows Media Player 9 or 10, Windows Media Format SDK, or Microsoft Codec Installation Package for Windows Media Player 7.1 installed - ffdshow can't decode WMV9. If any of those are installed, then WMV9VCM will be ignored during playback (even if it was installed by CCCP) and the WMV9 codecs that come with them will be used instead (which is a good thing).
* Gabest's MPV (MPEG2) Decoder 1.0.0.3
o Decodes MPEG2 video (the stuff on a DVD). Used instead of ffdshow for a number of reasons.
* Media Player Classic 6.4.9.0
o Media Player Classic, one of the two recommended players. Choose this one or Zoom Player according to your preference.
* Zoom Player Standard 4.51
o The other recommended player. Other players are NOT supported; see the Media Players page.
What file format would you prefer to have for the h264 version?
Here are the choices:
1) MP4 file with h264 video and bog standard remastered aac audio but not 5.1 (2.0 stereo) - CURRENTLY USED FORMAT
2) MKV file with h264 video (hard subbed) with 5.1 surround ac3 audio
3) AVI file with h264 video with 5.1 surround ac3 audio
