Title: Question on #live-evil banning policy.
Post by: Igor on July 17, 2005, 10:57:15 am
I have a couple of questions regarding Live-evil's policies on bans in the #live-evil IRC channel.

Generally how long does a channel ban last? Are there any offenses that result in a permanent ban?

My reasons for asking these questions are (as one may have guessed) because for the past 4 or 5 days I've been banned from #live-evil. The reason cited was ETG's "no serving mp3s" policy.
This came as a bit as a surprise to me as I've been serving in several channels on the ETG for quite some time under the nick Igor-san, and this was the first I'd ever been called on it. Seems I missed that particular line in the ETG rules page; go figure. Anyways, rules being rules and ignorance being no excuse I bit the bullet and pulled the restricted files from my fserve (at very little expense to myself).

I'd expected this to blow over after a while and for things to "get back to normal" but after a couple of days passed I found that the situation remained the same. So I decided to post here in the forums to see if either something was wrong, or if I was missing something.

Would anyone be so kind as to clear things up for me?

Regarding  ETG policy you can get them here : http://www.enterthegame.com/etg-rules.htm
regarding the ban life , i should say it's depend of the @ who banned you , maybe you can pm him on irc to ask .

What is your hostmask? Maybe we can get the ban removed :) I know when I ban someone for mp3s or licensed anime I always tell them to remove the offending files and pm me and I will remove the ban.

If my memory serves me correctly the @ who banned me was called "Momo-chan" or something along those lines (although I'm not entirely sure). I don't remember getting any information other than "serving MP3s is prohibited on the ETG", but then it's not 'impossible' that I forgot or missed any additional information.

My hostmask is

Igor-san!~shinigami@host661461498.dsl.res.tor.fcibroadband.com

Thanks for all the help; I appreciate it.

actually the same thing happened to me lol ^^

if anyone could tell me how to pm the op that banned me without being able to actually entering the channel that would be great ^^

(all mp3 files have been removed from my fserv ^^;; and i've throughly combed over the rules this time )
