Title: POLL: Most fav series amongst the current ongoing and recently dropped projects.
Post by: Tsubasa on May 31, 2006, 10:04:21 am
Hi guys, we'd like to know which animes are your most favorite from our current active projects.  :) Stalled titles have also been included.  :) You can vote for a maximum of four titles.  Please chose carefully and don't forget to tell us your reason for liking the show this much.   :D Oppai fansubs have also been included. ;)

NOTE: Just because you can vote for four titles max, it doesn't mean you HAVE to vote for four titles.
Please vote for only and only those titles which are your favorite.  ;D

I like TC for various reason...especially cause I'm a Syaoran and Sakura die-heart fan.  I'm one of the greatest fans of CCS that ever existed.  Plus I like Yawara cause it's one of those shows which really keeps ya locked to the screen, very intense and a unique plot..which got me to be a fan of Tani Ryoko.  Plus I like DAQ cause I'm a Satou Fumiya fan.  I love his detective series...especially Kindaichi.  And being a shoujo myself, I'd obviously be a Sailor Moon fan...hence Sailor Stars.  Sailor Moon is a legend amongst animes.

3000 Leagues of Mother (1976)
Galaxy Express 999 (1978)
Yawara (1989)
Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (1996)

Gee, no wonder dear Mamo-chan is still a nOOb HERO.   ;)
Anyway, good luck with your computer.

I only voted for Nana.

The reason is that at present this is the only L-E fansub that interests me and I was not going to blind vote for others.

Of course I might regret this at a later stage if I get hooked on another current project ^^

Captain Harlock

Galaxy Express 999
Queen Millennia

Captain Harlock + Galaxy Express 999 because i grow up with them, and Queen Millennia because it is a part of "Harlocks-Matsumoto universe"

I voted Tsubasa Chronicle and The Snow Queen, as these are the only two that gained my interest for the moment.

Tsubasa Chronicle is a favourite of mine that I'm glad to see is coming out again, as I am a big fan of CLAMP.  As for the Snow Queen, I've always liked that story, and to see it in an anime version is great!  Hasn't been updated for a while, though, I think.  Ah, well, I'm grateful to have anything at all.

Voted the same for pretty much the same reasons

I voted for NANA because I love it. The artwork is gorgeous and the plot is very interesting!

TOFUSENSEI NEEDS TO GET TO WORK!

I also voted for Sailor Stars because that is my very favorite Season of Sailor Moon and I have it on the old VKLL subs but LE's were proving especially nice! These are the only two I watch from LE but both have been held up! >:(

I voted for Tsubasa!

Why?

Because I Love CSS so much that I spent an UNGODLY amount to own first pressings of the Japaneese laserdiscs of them and sub them myself :P

19 discs X $45-$65 each

Do the math :P

I voted for Yawara and NANA.
For Yawara, because it's cute and relaxing to watch. I don't really understand why I'm stuck with it, but I am.
For NANA, because it sounds promising. Haven't started watching it, but I definitly will. The story seems quite good from what I've read about it.

If I had to choose only one it would have been far-and-away the Snow Queen.  I was heart broken when episodes stopped coming out.  There's just something so amazing about the story, art, and soundtrack.  Plus, no one else is working on it, so if it gets dropped here...  x_x

Harlock, because it's awesome?  I don't know why.  I just love this show.  Another one that no else has.  Ditto for Galaxy Express 999.

I also voted for Nana, because I like L-E's version more than the others being released, but at the same time it's not a rare show, so I'm less attached to this choice than the above 3.

Reasons: Creamy Mami is very close to finished.
Tonde Buurin is a great series (although, it has an English dub; the problem is finding copies of it).
I did not list Yadamon because it wasn't on the poll. Yadamon also didn't make the "heroines most likely to kill somebody" list, even those she is one of the few magical girls to carry and use guns.
"I'll make a Habit of It" is going to be tough finding raws, but I still want to see the next few episodes. Based on the scripts, the tone of the show changes abruptly as Nagisa is forced to abandon her father's goal of a dojo to focus her energies on actually becoming an Idol, instead of just playing as one on stage. That's probably why the original project lost interest.
As for Pelsia -- I don't actually like Pelsia; it has no consistency whatsoever. Strike that vote.

I voted for Snow Queen because it was an all-time favourite of mine growing up. Combined with the fantastical anime theme and you've got a winner for me Also, Tsubasa because ...well, I like it. I love most things clamp, and CCS was great. seeing the characters again is very nice.

Also, Sailor Moon and sailor Moon Musicals, because I love some of the music from the musicals and Sailor Moon was a classic series not to be competed with.

3000 leagues in search of mother  because i always bitch about this series never being around haha.  but seriously i do  miss it.

and then i picked sailor stars because it doesn't seem like the other group is going to finish it.

and then i picked the musicals because... well, never cared for them much really.

I voted for 3
1. TC because it's all about love and sacrifice plus I looove Kuropon!
2. Galaxy Express 999 because our local station only showed around 10 episodes then stopped, leaving me a taste for more
3. Captain Harlock, for the same reason as 2.

Also, thanks Tsubasa for listing all of L-E subs, I didn't know they are so many!!!! :o

I will at least look at everyone of them, maybe the next time this poll is around my choices might change!

Thanks Cheez, you should really try out our other series.  We bring you what normally other groups don't even care for, true anime classics----animes thats should be respected by all true anime fans. :D

Gee,  :D thanks, we'd really appreciate if you let us know which projects we should be focusing on---that is projects you don't want us to drop at any cost.  But again, I agree with Masakari, that my thread is below standard, cause no one even thanks us for all the hard work.  Most of the animes we deal with are oldies--hence low DVD video and audio quality, etc....high pitched voices, mumbles...and it's really hard to translate and time them...unlike those series from the 90s and the latest ones.  Yet we do it because we want to bring classics to you and we're determined.  It's all for the true love of anime and because we respect those who brought anime to us.  So I do think, personally, that we deserve some thanks.....although we'd still continue....thanks or not....because it's what dedicated anime fans and fansubbers should be doing.

Hm, this is a poll thread, isn't it? Not a "Show-L-E-how-grateful-you-are"-thread. I thought you only wanted a vote plus a short explanation and no hymn.
I personally appreciate your work and dedication for such series, but to me this is not the place to say so.

I didn't get to vote for all shows I wanted to vote for, so I'll give reasons for all of them:
- 3000 leagues: I don't think any other group is doing it... It's a very nice show and I heard the last episodes are fantastic. Plus, a Takahata/Miyazaki combo is never something to be dropped ;)
- Creamy Mami because the show is almost over and it would be a shame not to let American viewers discover the really excellent last episodes (pianist, first kiss, final stage, etc.)
- Pelsia, just because I'd like to see the final two episodes out. They're quite awesome as well.
- Galaxy Express 999, Captain Harlock and Queen Millennia, because old Matsumoto shows were really something. GE999 has great final episodes, Harlock has a very good soundtrack and Queen Millennia... Well, I loved the movie.
- Glass Mask, another interesting show. It's already been completed by another group (non-digital fansub) years ago, though.
- Snow Queen, Dezaki/Sugino combo. 'nuff said. (Plus, no other group is doing it.)

I voted for:
Mahou no Tenshi Creamy Mami --- because it is almost finished; when it is done, I would change my vote to Mahou no Yousei Persia
Ai to Yuuki no Pig Girl Tonde Buurin --- the little I have seen of this was awesome: we need more pig-girl!
I then voted for Matsumoto Leiji, because Lejiverse titles rock.  I went with Ginga Tetsudou 999 and Uchuu Kaizoku Captain Harlock; I have only seen the one episode of Shin Taketori Monogataro 1000-nen Joou, so I do not yet know if it is any good or not.

I also watch NANA and Tsubasa Chronicle, but I would rather see more episodes of the above titles.

In order of favoritism...

I like Peach Girl Live-Action because it stays really close to the plot line (more than that of the Anime). Plus, I'm a fan of Vaness Wu <3 He's such a heartthrob.

I like the Snow Queen because I think it has a nice unique plot. I don't watch it anymore since I ran out of room on my computer, but while I was watching it I thought it was pretty cool. It did update slow and didn't go very fast at some parts, but never the less it was good.

I like Tsubasa for various reasons. It has a nice interesting plot, but it does move extremely slow. It does leave me wondering at some points what will happen, but most of the time it's just too slow to put up with. I do, however, LOVE the music in it. I haven't seen much from the second season, so I can't really input on the music that much, but I know the music from the first season was amazing.

I've seen about half of the anime on that list, but I only voted for Tsubasa Chronicle since it's currently my favorite anime. I also have a feeling some people in LE dont want it to be subbed anymore, so I'm making sure it gets my vote. The story is intriguing, theres character plot (which I find to be really rare in anime these days!), and it extends beyond the average anime in animation and plot. It's by far the most interesting show I've seen lately.
Yeah yeah, flame me all you want Tsubasa haters, I couldn't care less if you choose to insult me for my opinions :p

Yeah, but we'd like to know why it's your no. 1....your reason for liking it.  Cause most people at LE here seems to hate the shows and we better tell them our reasons for liking it.

Hum, kinda hard to explain. A friend got me into CLAMP works via Tsubasa Chronicle. I have devoured TRC and xxxHOLiC mangas and animes just to get more, and have started on other CLAMP mangas. I am a huge fan of Fay and Kurogane. For me it is an addiction, the art is incredibly beautiful, I love the characters and the music is mindblowing. Another thing factoring in is that my former biggest favourite BLEACH is in filler arc and it just keeps getting worse and worse. Tsubasa's fillers look good and fit into the canon.

Hyuu~ kakkoii desu!

Anyway, I don't get the Tsubasa hatred. If I were a fansubber, I'd like to sub series that gets watched as much as possible, to see my work enjoyed by as many as possible.

And just for the record, I'm not a pre-teen fan of Tsubasa, since many seem to be of the opinion that it's a kiddies show. I'm way closer to 30 than 20 of age.

Sailor Stars:  I've been dying to see the entire sailor moon series since I was a teen.
Yawara:  It's a fun series
The Snow Queen:  I've always been fond of fairy tales anyways.
Creamy Mami:  It's a cute serie...but the voice is hard to deal with :P

I would have added more, but I couldn't.

Voted for Nana because it's one of the few animes which seem to have a slightly different 'attitude' which is refreshing amongst so many mix-and-match clones out there.
The other one I voted for was Tsubasa 2, simply because it's CLAMP and I'll watch anything of theirs for the designs - they're small works of art.  When a CLAMP series actually has a story too it's a bonus (though I think their xxxHolic far outstrips T2 on that score).
Those are the only 2 of your current projects that I'm following, but I like them both.

To be honest the only reason I joined this site or even found out about Live-Evil is because you are/were? subbing Ask Dr. Rin. I love the series and the fact that someone is taking the time to sub a more obscure and older anime. I can't wait to see the rest of it in the future.

I think this is a great poll! It 's nice to see what people like and why.

My favourite is Creamy Mami. It's the reason I came to Live-evil. I started working for Live-evil because I figure the more people working, the more likely it is that the series I like will be worked on.

I find some magical-girl series strike a tender spot in my heart. Next to Fancy Lala and Full Moon, Creamy Mami is my favourite. These girls have been given an unusual ability and they are making the most of it.

My next choice is Ask Dr. Rin! When I tracked that one down, I was quite suprised to find myself back at Live-evil. I like it for the same reasons.

Yawara is my third choice. So far I've only seen the episodes I've QC'd. But I am planning to watch them all. Judging by the recap episode that just came out, Yawara has a lot of the character development that I tend to enjoye.

I didn't make a fourth choice. None of others struck a special chord with me, although I have enjoyed many of them. I would very much like to see Persia finished, as it is an example of my favourite gendre. Although I consider Persia to be a clueless twit I'd still like to see the rest of the series.

I think Nana is the number #1 anime I am watching from Live-Evil  and I believe I said it before, I like Nana because of the plot and character development.  I'm a CLAMP fan so I watch Tsuabasa.  Some of the others I do not like and some of them I have never heard of. When I have some hard drive space maybe I'll try some of these unknowns.   :)

P. S.  Some of us do thank Live Evil, are we supposed to thank them every hour?

I also voted for DAQ and Gallery Fake in the hope that we can get them restarted.

I think I voted for Peach Girl as I miss the challenge of trying to edit the damned thing!

I voted for Sailor Stars because I've never seen any subtitled version of it, Captain Harlock because it looks interesting, and Ask Dr. Rin because my girlfriend is obsessed with it and I don't want to listen to her go on and on about it forever if it doesn't get finished. ::)

Hmmm...well...ummm...thanks for voting, but only vote for those which you have watched the subbed version of, from us, not just because you generally watched it somewhere and liked it.  And whats this Captain Harlock looks 'interesting'?  Have you watched it or not?

Pretty easy pick for me, I'm afraid...

TRC is the series I'm most anxious to see each week simply because it's "new"...

I also voted for Sailor Stars and KOR because they are old faves-especially Stars... *_*
Stars I'm especially impressed with, tho, as up until now I've seen sub-quality fansubs (mainly due to inferior technology at the time).

As for Pelsia -- I don't actually like Pelsia; it has no consistency whatsoever. Strike that vote.
-Galen

Okay, I've rewatched the seven episodes of Pelsia, and I was wrong; it's completely consistent. What I remembered as being odd is that Pelsia is from Africa, but her parents run a convenience store in Japan, where Pelsia has apparently never been. Then they go to all the trouble of having Pelsia flown to Japan so that they can ignore her from close up and go on with their own lives. Enroute to Japan, Pelsia gains the Power of Dreams -- or rather, the fairies recognize that she has that power, since she has evidently been using it since the story started.
Rather than rely upon others, I have ordered the R2 DVDs, so raws will be available if you decide to continue it.

I voted for my four favorites. In order of importance. (If i had fifth vote that would have gone to Harlock, sorry Harlock)

- GE 999.
Tetsuro is so cool, symphatic and funny. I like GE999 charachters very much. There is something very deep and honest in these older shows. I can't believe no DVD is released. This classic has waited subbing for over 25 years.

- 3000 leagues in search of mother
Miyazaki and Takahata.

- Snow Queen
Looks like a good rendering of this classic fairytale.
I want to see more.

- Queen millenia.
I didn't know it even existed. First episode was very funny...hard to say what it will be like, but looks promising.

My favourites are definately the classic Matsumoto pair: Galaxy express 999 and Captain Harlock!

Galaxy express is brilliant spacedrama I remember from my childhood days, and I'm thrilled beyond words everytime I see a new episode released!

Captain Harlock has a nice story and a classical Matsumoto look which I like. Definate A - material!

I personally voted Tsubasa Chronicle S2, Sailor Stars, and Galaxy Express 999.

I'm a CLAMP fan so that's why I picked Tsubasa.  It isn't the best show in the world, but I do like to watch it so I voted that.

I voted Sailor Stars because I've seen all the other Sailor Moon episdoes(and most of the movies) and have been wondering how this final saga played out.

I voted Galaxy Express 999 because a friend told me the show was good a couple of weeks ago and now I'm hooked.

I hope that wasn't too long winded.  Thanks for taking my vote!

I voted only for Tsubasa Chronicle Season 2.  This is because it is the only anime on that long list that I can afford to watch regularly, and is because I love CLAMP, the manga, and the first season of this anime.  And I haven't been inspired to sample the rest of that huge list of anime.

I voted for NANA and Tsubasa S2, but also for the Sailor Moon Musicals and Ask Dr. Rin. I didn't even know you guys were doing the BSSM musicals! I am a true Moonie from wayback in the wayback, and I'm going to run off to d/l those now!

Now, as for why, both NANA and Tsubasa I got into through the manga, and I know you guys have consistently high-quality subs. Ask Dr. Rin because it is a really interesting concept for a series (and very mahou shoujo, which I LOVE), and I''ve already pretty much explained the Sailor Moon thing. :D

3000 leagues is my pick by some margin, owing to the sheer artistry (and I'm not referring to just the visuals). Followed by GE999 (mainly nostalgic value), Yawara and Creamy Mami (just fun, quintessential anime titles)..

How well will the current crop of popular titles stand up to the passing of time, I wonder?

Hello!

This is my first post to the forums, even though I've been hanging around here for a while, looking at the odd post and update.

I picked Creamy Mami only, as that's the only reason I found out about live-evil subs. I love Creamy as it's one of my first animes I ever watched, and I would absolutely love to see it finished, especially since you guys have done such an excellent job on the past 44 episodes!! please please please please finish it! ^______________^

and I promise I'll check out some of your other shows too! :D
afterall I'm sure the quality is very high there as well!

Well. I grew up with albator so I'm pretty fond of everything by matsumoto . So my favorite series are:
Queen millenia: Because this has never before been translated in a language I understand.
Galaxy express: I never saw the complete series, just a few french dubbed ones about 20 years ago.
Captain harlock: It deserves a good translation, but I have the french dubbed ones.

All I was doing was compiling a Top 10 list. Now, as for the reason you put up this poll, I guessed at your nickname that it was to convince L.E to keep working on Tsubasa by showing them that it's the most popular anime at L.E, and then going to a Tsubasa fan forum and asking them to vote here.

Since it is my opinion, it's only fair enough that I troll about the series you're such a "fan" of that you've writing in all caps and are obviously angry at me.

Ahhhh... Fandom. All these young people and everything.

Actually they dubbed about 10 episodes to French and showed them on La Cinq back in 1991.

About 35 got dubbed, yeah.

For your kind information Nao, it was obvious that Tsubasa will end up with the highest no. of votes.  I am a translator here in L-E and it was my curiosity as an L-E member to see what series are most popular amongst ALL our projects BESIDES Tsubasa and NANA.

And my POLL got advertised in many threads not only Tsubasa and NANA.

And another thing, in the beginning, Tsubasa got only few votes and wasn't definitely on the lead because the Tsubasa fans were not coming to the forums.  So I had to let them know that my POLL was there and they could vote.  You have no idea how I got so many people to vote in total....not necessary only Tsubasa fans, but fans of other series as well.

And L-E wouldn't drop Tsubasa unless it gets licensed I can assure you.  The series being already as famous as it is, there's no need to go to all that trouble and carry out a POLL just to show people thats it's in high demand. : XD

 Magical Angel Creamy Mami
 Magical Fairy Persia
 Yawara (w/Froth-Bite)
 Tonde Buurin

There isn't really an explanation. For me, to like or not to like something isn't a rational thing. Of course, the fact that 3 out of 4 of my choises being mahou shoujo anime shows that I like mahou shoujo shows  ;D.

I could've seen the point just as clearly if you typed it in a normal, non-adolescent way. Say, for example, "You are a total dumbass." Then again, why even use such common insults? Oh, and as for Masakiri who seems to think I'm of the unintelligent nature... I'm in AP classes, getting many college credits out of the way when I'm a Junior in High School. I've read many authors such as Hemingway, Ayn Rand, and Steinbeck. I've had many political discussions about these authors, their books, and what their ideas contribute to society and how eutopias are all based on the person and will always end horrific. I've also had many discussions in my AP French class about such things as new laws, the fixing of oil prices, and the genocides in Rwanda and Cambodia. So, before you go assuming that first of all, I'm a 'dumbass', and second, that all Tsubasa fans are 'dumbasses'... perhaps you should do a bit of research and maybe you'll find your argument to be moot.

Tsubasa; because it's one of the first animes friends introduced me to, and later I found meself as a fan of xxxHOLiC, so I watch Tsubasa together.

Nana; everybody's talking about it and I've got nothing to watch, so I checked out the movie and found it to be pretty interesting and started the anime.

But neither of them are really that onto me type, my fav is still xxxHOLiC but that's not done here.

I voted for KOR and Snow Queen.

Both are series I enjoy.  I haven't gotten into KOR as much as Snow Queen though, but it's a fun series.

I first found out about this site when I discovered that an anime had been made of one of my fave fairy tales through Wikipedia.  It was such a joy watching the first few eps from this group.  The story telling style that the anime follows and the sweet music.  I want to know what they do with the series as it's 39 eps long.

I realise this is a volunteer effort on your parts putting together these fan translations, so I try to be patient giving what encouragement I can to you.  Please continue on.  Thanks

notices the uber reasons post on the first page and hence forth gets to work~~~~!!!!

Tsu-Chro: the cute romance of sakura & shaoran .. the music of kajiura yuki, kurogane's torment from fye & mokona, I am loving this series and look forward to it's region one release... funimation is still a black mark in my book... but they seem to be doing a damn good job of trying to remove that from people's books so that impresses me.

Nana : Paku Romi's voice, the shojou style (waiting for honey & clover 2 wai!), The music, the live action movie, the ending karaoke L-E made, have all made me a fan of this series. It's sad to see L-E stop, because i already miss the ending karaoke, but it only makes me look forward to future L-E projects in the end

I voted for Mami and Yawara.  Quite some time ago, my oldest son gave me the first 37 eps of Mami, which I devoured.  I was completely entranced (my youngest daughter was Yuu's age, and they are very much alike), and heartbroken to discover the long wait between releases.  I guess I just can't handle "observus interruptus".  So now I'm waiting for the series to finish before watching again. [Seven more eps to go- hooray!]
Same thing with Yawara- I just got wrapped up in it; I love her spirit.

Folks, I really appreciate L-E's sticking with these projects. It must be disheartening to them to see the small numbers, which do not reflect the worth of these stories.  I suspect many watchers just lost patience, and I think you won't really see the true number of interested parties until these series are finished, and someone posts them on Box.

I did not vote for Mami but I did go and watch the first five episodes of Mami, and decided that they are not my cup of tea...but I can see why others might find it appealing.  The main character is very cute and pink!

I much prefer the more stylized drawings of both Matsumoto's animes Galaxy Express 999 and Captain Harlock although at times I find the moralizing aspects of these two series a bit on the pedantic side  ;)

Why did I post, so that Tsubasa would not feel too lonely, plus it's raining out and I'm waiting for the World Cup quarter finals!  ;D

I am not a big fan of 80's fluffy art, nor I am a fan of Matsumoto style art.  I like character designs like those of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, KOR, Sailor Moon.  Background art is nice in all the current series...Haruhi has nice designs too, although not anything so special. I don't like too much color, yet.

I personally love Captain Harlock, definetely my fave of your current projects.  I am also one of those Matsumoto freaks, so I can safely say I like Queen Millenia and GE999.  I agree with the several posts that think your translations of NANA rocked.  I am sorry you had to drop it.  On an old waaaaaaaaaay back note, I am also currently enjoying your long finished translation of Rose of Versailles.  I am really getting into retro classic anime at the moment.  I just find all the colors and the sheer amount of hand painted cells to be an amazing thing.  I have the utmost respect for the classics.  I am glad to see you subbing so many old shows, I am really enjoying them a lot (I like new shows too, and I am not like 40 or something and remember Harlock from when I was little, I wish I did, but I don't I am an 80's kid, born in '81, so there you go :P).  Keep up the great work!!!

Tofu worked hard to get those t/l out...he doesn't get RZproduction translations like you people do.  You don't have the biggest problem of getting someone to transalte them, so you don't know the pain and should hence just SHUT UP, you hopeless troll.

And his translations are A LOT BETTER than your stuff...massively edited crappy RZproduction translations.  Have you ever heard any compliment about your translated scripts?  I bet not cause you know very well that the original ones sucked.  It's a shame you cannot get someone to properly translate them.  It's a great thing that we have a new t/l for GE999...that show deserves it.  The Matsumoto division works really hard to get some substance out of those t/l scripts that you had to get from elsewhere which needs massive editing to bring into shape.

And grow up you dumbo Masa-chan.

Gosh, you are growing more and more retarded day by day.

A)It remains to be seen how well the New TL works out. Seriously, no matter how good someones linguistics are, it may take a while before they are able to make good scripts.

B)Youre absoultely correct, If i just went poof, this place would be so much better. But Im hungry, and theres lots of yummy troll food here.

Well, yes.  Flashing a TL checked episode in 3 hours is not such an impossible mission...considering Tofu Tls an episode in like 2 hours.  You have to see how long it takes him to actually translate an episode.

Man....I dun get how ye can like Tsubasa one one hand, and then appreciate Matsumoto stuff. I mean, I admit both are stupid, but....common man? Harlock could just smile at the entire Clamp Universe, and theyd run away. Exept for Hikaru, cause shes the hawt red-head chik, who cant back down. And Fuu, casue shes HAWET too. Omg....

SO I remember this one Rayearth Episode, where there was like this EVIL dude, and he wanted to be EVIL, so he was like DUDE, Im going to be mean today and make people sufffer. So he got in his uber Mecha with uber minions (Also in Uber mecha, go figuer ::)) and then was like AHHAAHAHAHH THE WORLD IS MINE (Also, at this point, hes a clamp guy so like 400000 gurlz are fawining over him and making Yaoi Fanfics....)

Okay okay So back to the story. So hes doing bad stuff and making a mess, when CAPTAIN HARLOCK comes on down to show him whos boss. So the Arcadia comes RUMBLIN into Magic-Land and captian harlock is ONTOP of it, steering the whole thing and basically lollerskatin. So the evil dude is like OMFG im D-E-D DEAD, and starts to shit his cool looking armor, but then Black Jack is like OMG dude, if you do that youll lose teh fan gurlz, Take this Pepto-Bismol. SO he takes it, and doesnt shit his armor, but hes STILL REALLY friggn scared, which is understandable given Harlocks Smile and the arcadia bearing down on him, and shooting up his minions, as they had all charged the ship tying to one up each other and look good infront of the boss (as that is what minions do, no?) Okay so then all the minoins either ran away after seeing Harlocks battle smile after he shot em all one by one, not counting the one time he got shot directly, but then just bled a bit and smirked, invoking a HORRRIBLE WAVE OF SHEER HORROR and causing WHOLE RANKS OF GOONS TO FLEE FOR THIER LIVES!!!!

Okay, so the big evil clamp dude is like, SCREW this! and hes like, asking Black Jack to make him buff, becasue he was really skinny so he could be popular with teh chicks and get into fanfics. Okay So Black jack is like SHURE, ill give you UBAR MUSCLES, for 1,000,000 DOLLARS!! AHAHAHHA!!!!! So then, becasue hes the genius surgeon that the era has longed for, gives him muscles in under 3 seconds with his godlike scalpel skillz, and is like OMG dude...pay up. So the Evil dude writes him a check, and BJ is pretty satisfied. BUT WAIT OMFG""""""!!!!!!

Harlock is *PISSED at Black Jack* I mean, all the way to the point where hes saying `TOMO YO!!` pissed. So he SHOOTS BLACK JACk, IN THE FACE!!!! And Black Jack DIES, but then his hands operate on his head, and deflect all the lazer beams from the arcadia with godlike scalpel skillz. So Black jackl is back up, and the evil clamp dude is like
OKAY ITS GO TIME.but the clamp dude tripeed on a rock, becasue his armor was still to huge for him, and he never actually had any combat experience. it turns out his armor is just for show, and he never intended to fight in it, SO, naturally, he bungled with it when push came to shove.

So, long story short,  Black Jack Operated on his broken kneee WHILE fighting Harlock....In a Boxing duel. But then they started using Knives, then guns, then Dinosaurs Jousting.

Its at this point that Harlock smiles and is LIKE SCREW this omg....So he just shoots them both in the foot and smiles, casue hes reallyu a nice guy and doesnt want to such fine people (at least in the case of BJ, he didnt want to piss him off by killin the clamp dude) get ganked. So then harlock goes back to his ship and into his private quarters with the SCHMEXY mime, as the Arcadia sails off into the sea of stars to another battlefield. Bj goes home, so he can wait for phone calls, and the clamp dude is like DUDE, Now i can wear armor well, trhink of all the fans!!! ZOMGF!!!

But then all the fan gurlz are like OMFG he weighs more than 40lbs and is not anorexic, and find another dude to fawn over omg. the end. :)

I voted at "the snow queen" since,

I also liked Tsubasa C. but I did just vote on snow queen since how we turn it up or down, Tsubasa was taken over by the YGO. YGO has taken up the lead of more then five eps and comparing the quality his or yours fansub, not a real different. So, I truely like TC people, don't get me wrong, but taking out YGO's lead is out of the question speaking of eps and ~same quality.

That's why I only voted for "the snow queen". So go for it snow queen.

Also each episode is full of events, there happens a lot. If I had to mark the score from 0-10 regarding to Dragon Ball Z Snow Queen deserves 10. Even comparing to Tsubasa Chronicle I rate 8. There are plenty of events in the anime.

Hah, don't make me laugh.   ::) 8) I appreciate them subbing it, and I do leech their releases, but their quality isn't anywhere as good as L-E's...amateurish translation, ending karaoke off.  ::) I like their opening karaoke though.  But anyway, at the speed they are subbing, they'll never finish before the license on Season 2 is announced, and I'm sure they'll try to continue afterwards and maybe get a cease and desist, who knows.  After all, they've started subbing Season 1 here.  Their speed is so damn frustrating and if you knew a decent level of Japanese, I'd stay forget about subs and stick to raws.  :-\ Instead of wasting their valuable time on releasing Season 1 eps at this rate and on developing their websites and researching about unnecessary things, and responding stupidly to stupid leechie whims, they should get their ass back to where it should be.....RELEASE TSUBASA SEASON 2 LAND!!!  >:(

Hehe, think about a boy in a country without any anime. Then suddenly just two years back he discovers "anime" and the world changes. I'm not really a DBZ fan, I even did not like it. But it's told to me, whenever you start as an anime you should know some movies/series. Just like every anime freak knows CSS, Neon Genesis Evangelion, (aww even have to sum up) pokemon ...

Also, I'm not aware of your (towards the whole community) knowledge of anime. So I can compare it with an unknown or unfamiliar anime but that won't do anyone good since nobody would know what I compare too. So I also recommend you, if you like to compare when, for example writing a review, compare with something famous. Summing up infamous anime's will loose all you readers since they ain't familiar with it and doesn't know what you are talking about.

About you post
YGO LEAD?  :o
Hah, don't make me laugh.   ...
Oh well, I'm depended on translation since I can't read/understand anything of Japanese. So I suppose you are right.
Speed, didn't notice since you stalled the project. I'm sorry for getting the wrong conclusions. Still quality I'm not so sure...

AviCodec (shows off a better quality at YGO).
Though the video quality should better since it has to most MB to it (L-E and YGO has ~175MB each ep). Still it has a low score at AviCodec and AniDB. (Don't feel attacked please, just used AviCodec and AniDB to check).

Avicodec
(http://hirvine.com/just/DB_LE vs YGO using AVI codec th.jpg)
http://hirvine.com/just/DB_LE vs YGO using AVI codec.jpg

Source, both DTV.
YGO scores better at Anidb ( http://anidb.info/a4046 )

Again, I'm not wanting to attack your pride of quality, but it needs to explain. (I NEVER said your quality sucks, cause it's great and my divx players can play your files meaning you have a clean xVid codec and using it very well and what I have learned in these years, that's rare. People often do not know how to make a clean encode, but you can! So that's what you makes great. And as always it looks great. So I did not complain. I only leeched YGO's TC, and I'm not fan of YGO. I even never visited their homepage. I'm fan of L-E, so don't worry about that. Still some facts above needs to be explained if YGO's quality really 'sucks'.)

For those not read carefully. I did NOT rate the translated quality. Tsubasa says it so sucks you can better watch raws. I cannot rate it. So if that's true, then as fanSUB YGO really fails.
Title: Re: POLL: Most fav series amongst the current ongoing and recently dropped projects.
Post by: Tsubasa on August 22, 2006, 12:44:10 pm
Okay, here is the deal. I did not say YGO SUCKS anywhere.  I am not even assuming you think our ones suck either.  :) They are nowhere near to sucking fansubs.  I rate theirs as good/decent...but just saying our translation and speed (when we were subbing it. mind it it's 'dropped?' not stalled or anything  ;) ) and karaoke timing was better.  I like their colored subtitling fonts and the dedicated opening karaoke, but the ending karaoke has proved to be a pain to follow for those who follow them.  ::) They are so clearly off that even non-fansubbers can spot where they went wrong.  ::) Kazenokoe has done a decent job on their Tsubasa Chronicle h264 release of episode 1, but 5-6 lines from the opening karaoke were VERY CLEARLY off.  So yeah, non of them SUCK.  :-\ Just that. we're better in some aspects.  ;D

(Of-course I might also be biased and 'seeing' things ;)...but that's not really my nature :-\).

-Tsubasa

P.S.  All I want YGO to do is to get their ass back on subbing Season 2 before it's licensed  >:( and forget about doing Season 1 (for which they'll hopefully get a cease and desist  >:(). They pay too much attention on trivial matters.  (If it matters, Did I ever like Yugioh! the anime?  Answer is no.  ;D)

Haha, dude tell me. I live in a country where people haven't ever heard of the word 'anime' let alone know how famous and unique Japanese animations are.  I was raised in Japan and that's how I got into it.  But when I got back here, all I could get access to was some stupid dubbings on Cartoon Network like PokeMon (of-course I saw it back in Japan), Beyblade, DBZ, Transformer, CCS (my favorite, watched the entire series back in Japan on NHK while it was being broadcasted from 1998-2001), DigiMon, and Yugioh! Duel Masters.  AXN was showing Fushigi Yuugi, Rayearth and Flame of Recca---again stuff I've watched.  Then Animax South Asia came and I saw many of the same old stuff were being broadcasted in English there (Animax dubbing).  The dubbings were better than what VIZ, 4kids or Nevlana would do but still, a dub would never make me fall in love with an anime.

The only dubbings I enjoyed were Daa! Daa! Daa! and Detective Academy Q (got to watch a few eps though) and then I found fansubs by means of Tsubasa Chronicle, browsed into Live-evil's page when ep. 29 and 30 were being delayed, saw they needed t/l for DAQ, and then got recruited.

Now by being involved in fansubbing. I am learning about other famous titles that have been released in the last 5 years (I left Japan in 2001) and trying to get and watch them.

Between the time I left Japan and started watching fansubs, I used to go the anime websites and read spoilers and reviews...although I don't generally like reading them, cause I was pretty sure that unless I somehow managed to get hold of the DVDs, I will never get to watch them in Japanese.

Galaxy Express 999
Captain Harlock TV 1978
Queen Millenia
The Snow Queen

The third one I was curious about and decided to DL the torrent. Not too bad a Matsumoto anime.  I'll be getting the 2nd episode tonight.

The Snow Queen sounds good so I included it and hope to see more soon as well.

Calling all anime fans!!!!

Live-eviL currently has a major shortage of dedicated QCers. :'(
This does not bode well for quick and efficient releases of YOUR FAVORITE ONGOING L-E SERIES!!! :o
Yes, you heard me right! If you would like to help speed the fansubbing process along for your favorite ongoing LE series, or in some cases simply get it moving through QC again, please check out the "Come QC for Live-Evil" thread in the "Live-eviL Recruitment Center" Forum. Read what various staff members have to say about the job, and if you think you might be able to help out send me a PM ASAP! Thank you in advance to those who are willing to give it a try!

I voted for Tsubasa Chronicle Season 2. I found TC a great anime, it's one of those few anime that quickly caught my attention and I really enjoyed early on. Many other anime (which are still very good) take time to like, or you need a bit of patience before you get attached to it, but TC was one of those few that hooks you up real quick  :)  It's got a good story line, character development and pretty good quality, not to mention the great quality of the fan subbing.....THANK YOU VERY MUCH ALL YOU STAFF THAT WORKED SO HARD ON IT!  ;D It's people like you that allow us non-Japanese speakers or others to really enjoy anime, so thanks again! I hope that this project can be revived, but understandably many things come before that, such as each person's personal life or difficulties, nevertheless thank you very much for your dedication on it.

Hi,

  My votes goes to:

1. Captain Harlock: Because I used to watch it when I was younger and I completely love it. It has an interesting plot (something that newer stuff usually lacks), the characters are complex, and because Leiji Matsumoto simply rocks.
2. Queen Millenia: for the same reasons as Harlock and because I couldn't see all the episodes. This tv show is great.
3. GE 999. Same, simple I like Leiji Matsumoto too much and this series are very hard to find otherwise.

So please, whatever you do, do not drop Matsumoto's :)

In that case, try our other titles. Trust me, you'll like them unless you're overly bothered about watching old stuff. But classics are golden and we only sub the gold. ^^

Hehe thanks but Gallery Fake is awaiting on a translator for further progress. Translator requirements are highly intensive for something like GF. btw, you should make a banner from that signature picture.  ;)

Death note. its in my top 5. Snow queen is in my top 10  *cough, i have about 25 anime in top ten, cough* Death note the story is simply amazing how light and L do there stuff.
The snow queen i also absulutly love. its just got one of those stories which give me that feeling to reflect on it after each episode, like mushishi for example. Id probly be in my top 5 also, but i gotta wait quite a while for an episode to come out, while deathnote i know will always come out the next week ^^.

Death Note all the way!!! I absolutly love death note it is one of the most ingenious series i have ever seen its one where it outwitts the viewer as well as the characters. alot of other series are predictable in their logic while L's insane logic keeps you guessing and so many twists that you find yourself loving it even more ^_^!!!

For whatever reason, the page isn’t allowing me to vote. I wanted to cast a vote for the Sailor Moon Musicals.

Although I do watch a few other of your releases, the musicals is the #1 reason why I check in from time to time. I have done some editing and subtitling of my own and understand the amount of work involved, therefore as per request I have never asked about the status of this (or any) project. But as this one appears to have been stalled, I would like to respectfully appeal to the ladies and/or gentlemen working on it to continue the project.

My reasons for picking this one:

Mugen Gakuen in particular is a musical that I feel is a shame to never have been subbed. Although there is no one particular part that I would call my favorite, I do feel that this musical was the best one overall. The choreography was excellent, and the story was the most cohesive out of all the musicals with almost no “slow” parts, at least in my opinion. There was great camaraderie between the performers and the dancing was top-notch. This is probably due to the fact that this musical had more of the best known performers than any other, including the longest running Pluto, Uranus, and Jupiter, and the second longest Moon, Mercury, and I believe Mars. There was also an exceptionally good Venus and one of my favorite Mamo-chans (I can't decide between him or his successer ^_^).

My japanese is decent enough that I could understand most of the musical. However there are several parts, particularly some of the jokes by the Grimm senshi, that I just couldn’t get no matter how many times I watched it.

My hope is that someday all of the musicals and specials will be fansubbed. I would sub them all myself, but I don’t know anyone fluent in japanese, which I’m sure is the usual problem. If additional help is needed for this project I more than willingly volunteer, but please note that the only program I am familiar with is Adobe Premiere Pro.

Biggest reason, I love the musicals of course!

I would also like to see Sailor Stars finished, although I have already seen it. I love the new quality.

I also watch the Trapp and Snow Queen stories, but neither are important enough to me to give them a vote.

Thanks for all the great subs!

I can't vote either.

Galaxy Express 999 - a show I had seen late at night a couple of times on the space channel.  I didn't know the name and searched for it now and then on the web for quite a while.  I found it on your site when you were at episode 6.  It's still by far my favourite series.  This search introduced me to the fansubbing sites, which has opened a new world, so that's part of it too.

Queen Millenia, Harlock - because they're related.   Harlock appeared in one of the space channel shows - I thought it was the same show at the time.

Well, it doesn't sound like you people have voted before and the voting isn't locked either so I wonder. What exactly happens when you try to vote? I changed the options so that voting stats are viewable to anyone now.
/me wonders what's happening.

I voted for Captain Harlock and Galaxy Express, because Matsumoto rules (and the older the show the more rules points).

I didn't vote for Sailor Stars ONLY because I watched the VKLL's over and over, and another group has been releasing softsubs which I am enjoying immensely with the subs off, so I can concentrate on the visuals, since I already know what they're saying. I'm going to watch Harlock that way one day as well ;^)

I didn't vote for Creamy Mami because even though I am fascinated by the weirdness of it, I can't be enthusiastic about it... I mean, how can you suggest to somebody that they should watch a show called Creamy Mami, about a little girl who likes yakuza? Okay, in retrospect, I should have voted for Mami.

I voted for Queen Millennia, I think this show and its movie are between the best of Matsumoto's anime and it surprises me that it doesn't seem to be as popular as Harlock and GE999  :'(

mine most favourite series of the list are :

1 death note
its just aweseome, why is hard to describe, but part of it comes from the suspension it gives you.

2 shion no ou
im a fanatic go player and that peeked mine interrest in the game of shogi, so of course i love a anime over shogi, this also means hikaru nog go is mine all time favourite anime since its about go.
fun to see im the only one who votes for this series until now, i would say its decent enough even if you do not know the game of shogi at all.

3 yawara
a golden oldie, but hard to describe what makes it good, perhaps just becouse its well balanced and you get what you espect series?

In terms of importance I voted Galaxy Express 999.

While Legend of the Galactic Heroes is by far the best space opera in story and characters, Galaxy Express has the lead in sci-fi atmosphere and in Japanese it is even better. If you manage to translate all the episodes it will be certainly a feat and for me the best fansubbed series of all.

Cuore:From the Apennines to the Andes

While I saw the series from the Taiwanese DVD that had decent translation, this is another classic series that was popular and probably has the best direction of any series from Japan that comes as close to real life as possible.

Captain Harlock

Another classic. While you can find it on DVD in Europe I plan to watch your release too but I dont think it is better than GE 999. I would have voted for Queen Millenia but I found it dubbed and from the first 13 episodes it is good but it overuses Matsumoto's earlier themes in GE and Captain Harlock excessively so this is rather for Matsumoto fans.

Yawara

I plan to give a look at the 57 episodes you released (in Europe you can buy all the episodes too) and since it was more popular than Ranma  in Japan, I hope it will be better too.

I would have voted for Creamy Mami too for the effort you made but the show was too kiddie for me to like.

I voted for The Snow Queen. I grew up loving the original story (Thanks to Fairy Tale Theatre), but I didn't even know there was an anime based on it. I started watching your subs, and I'm smitten with the story. I love the way it pulls in other Andersen tales into Gerda's journey. It's really sweet and very creative!  :D

I guess I am a little late on voting.  I would have voted for Future Boy Conan and Daughter of Twenty Faces as well if they had been on the list.  I did vote for Yawara and You're Under Arrest.  I am eagerly awaiting future Yawara episodes.  Another old anime that Live Evil started on and then dropped is Ashita no Nadja.  I would love to see Live Evil finish the last few episodes of that series, since nobody else seems to want to.  You can watch the Spanish dub with English subtitles on YouTube, but COME ON!  It's a Japanese film.  Who want's to hear it in Spanish?  Seeing the English subs on YouTube I know that somebody subbed those final episodes in English, but I have never been able to find them on-line.  :(  I suppose I could take the RAWs and then copy the script from the YouTube version and then try timing my own sub....  Actually I have done that for part of one episode.  :-[  I can really appreciate all the hard work you guys are doing at Live Evil after trying to just do one episode by myself.
