It'd be a pity otherwise - I really need to know what's to happen next!

I think the subtly coded answers suggest that it is still being worked on.  As to the next release, that we don't know.
Title: Re: Rose of Versailles
Post by: crypticgimp on July 22, 2004, 03:10:59 am
you never know..the code may say "no its not being worked on"
Title: Re: Rose of Versailles
Post by: tlynnec on August 02, 2004, 11:17:48 am
Please please don't let that be what the code says... How about, "it's being worked on, but you must be patient silly people."  Hmmm, yes that's much better...

Hello all... my first post around here ;D
First, congratulations on such a good release... I've watched all 24 episodes, and they're really great, but now, I'm dying to see the next 16, because, well, other groups releases... just suck!  :P
Any idea on when the next release will be, and what's currently holding it up?

(btw, sorry if I can't make myself clear sometimes... english is not my native language)

The other group's releases are a disaster, a perfect example of what happens when you try to release without a pig.

http://www.live-evil.org/sindo/pig01.jpg

Our pig, Piiki, is working full-time now, ever since he replaced Bun-bun, our bunny.  But he has many projects to work on, and our supply of carrots, hay, and pellets is running dangerously low.  Since we have been unable to secure a second-source provider of carrots and need to make it through the long winter, the delays in releasing our projects are sometimes more than we would prefer.  If you know somewhere where we can get approximentally 50 metric tonnes of carrots or other assorted vegetables, grown without pesticides and with no additives or preservatives, in good and edible condition, please tell us so we can speed up the releases.

Ehmmm.. carrots, huh. Well, where I live, they produce carrots, potatoes, onions, and other kinds of vegetables, so, tell me where to send them, and I'll think of something...

Are they "organic" carrots?  Additionally non-GM (Genetic Modified)?  They also need to be pesticide free, no additives or preservatives, etc.  Otherwise they may end up poisoning him, pigs can be very sensitive to those types of things (moreso than people).  What is deemed safe 'for person' is not necessarily safe 'for pig'.

Really hope you finish the series. It would be a tragedy not to. It's true, Live-Evil's quality is much better than Anime-Urchins but I just had to see the end of the series so I watched theirs anyway.
I haven't enjoyed another series as much as this. Legend of the Galactic Heroes makes a fair attempt with its epic quality but I just can't get into it the same way. There's really no equal to Lady Oscar.

What happens to this series? Is it still going on or dropped? I swear to God I saw lots of other new releases by L-E (like Initial D Stage 4) so I know L-E crews are still alive and breathing well somewhere.  I hope they can light us with some status of Rose of Versailles project. I understand it's been slow, but hey man, at least let us know what the current status is, the projected release date, the obstacles and what are the hurdles to over come.

Actually we sub all titles in their entirety before even announcing the title.  Then, we consult different experts -- a feng shui expert, an astrologer, and our pig as to which days are chosen under heaven as being favorable for releases and which days aren't.  The feng shui expert and the astrologer are technically advisors, it is ultimately up the pig when things are released.

Lately, heaven itself has been strange... Sometimes there are long periods of unfavorable days, or favorable days; we do not pretend to understand the favor of heaven in recent times.  We just follow the advice of those who can read the signs -- ensuring our releases are well-liked and received by the community.  Our ancestors have been doing this for thousands of years, such is the holy way, also known as the 'way of kings'.

Rose of Versailles  is becoming so addictive I can watch an episode more than once. Now as the episodes go on, I miss the old days of innocence when Antoinette first arrived at Versailles, and Oscar and Andrè hung out more together!

As the events unfold, both Oscar and Andrè seem distant yet coming closer.
Andrè once commented on birds heading north, and told Oscar that no matter where these birds are, they go back to their destined place.

No matter how far Oscar and Andrè go, they're destined to be together.

I should be buying the R2 set in the very near future (I adore this show, and I always buy them if they're good enough.) So it's possible I could sort out copies at some point... Assuming PAL can be handled at your end?

Hi,

Thanks for the quality subs of Rose of Versailles.  I'm enjoying your releases immensely.  However, the bittorrent download speeds are pretty slow- it might be more effective to group together some of the later episodes the way the earlier episodes are batched- like Episodes 1 - 12.  This would make it easier to reseed as well, so there aren't lots of individual torrents to keep track of.

Title: Re: Rose of Versailles
Post by: mcvarmazi on July 14, 2005, 09:17:09 pm
RoV is not licensed by any US companies (I'm in the US so that is who I am monitoring.. if any UK or Canadian companies pick it up, please let me know!)  I'm not sure if it ever will be licensed as it's one of those neglected classics =/  plus the old animation doesn't appeal to a lot of people.  Maybe (I doubt this) they will redo the series with better animation?  Then again we'd lose the awesome voice acting talent from the original series ;_;

But live-evil, thank you guys SO MUCH for your work on this series.  I am the mod of the livejournal beru_bara community (http://www.livejournal.com/~beru_bara) and I wanted to make sure I thank you guys here as well as there ^_______^ there are so many of us who have been eagerly waiting for a DVD rip release of this amazing series and I am so happy to finally see this project completed.  THANK YOU!!  :) :) :) :) :)

Yes, well, Tofusensei, if you consider having a nearly complete business plan(a few details still to be worked out), business/studio locations scouted, applying for the 'Prince's Trust' business start-up financing and other such capital investments serious(I'm an ex-student, so I'm a bit poor, but that's no prob), then yes, very f*****g serious.

As for subtitling, well, there's that, then there's the translation, the DVD designing, encoding and such.  Of course, I'll try to employ mostly from the Anime fan society, giving special preference to those in the North West of the UK, those from around Manchester-Liverpool area if possible.... hmm, now who is from Manchester or Scouse-land here at L-E??

Translation doesn't really require that the person lives in the area. I'm testing out with a professional company in the US, so I'll let you know if they think my translations are good enough for commercial release :D

Translation doesn't really require that the person lives in the area. I'm testing out with a professional company in the US, so I'll let you know if they think my translations are good enough for commercial release :D

Yeh I know I know, that's why I was considering Jonathan Clements to do a few of the translations for any titles I start with... not sure if you've heard of him, he's the UK's No2 Anime authority(Helen McCarthy is No1) and has done a lot of translations for several legendary Anime's.  On the subject of translations, any translation done, must be as literally close as possible, with the odd exceptions for slang and such, that will be the base standard.(I like perfection ;))

I am very very glad that you had subbed this great sereis, but I have a question. I downloades the series and the first episode doesn't have audio...I can't hear a thing! Why is that? All the rest of the episodes work perfectly fine though!

I already bought both of TRSI's releases, but that yaoi paddle does sound tempting...
