Title: SRT File
Post by: evandrey on May 11, 2008, 09:38:04 pm
Hi, I'd like to translate some eps of 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother from English to Russian language. Is it possible to get srt files? ???

No we don't provide scripts in any way shape or form. If you want to take our translations and time and produce subs for your own personal use then theres nothing we can do to stop you but we don't give out our finalised scripts.

Out of curiosity are you asking for yourself or on behalf of a Russian subbing group?

I wouldn't be opposed to giving out the scripts but I would have to dig round to see if I have them available. For a show like 3000 Leagues, I'd be happy to. It is a lot of work to subtitle.

We like to watch things on big screen instead of a pc monitor; and unfortunately many encodes with hardsubs use way to small or otherwise hard to read subs for that purpose (think of us short sighted elderly people out here ;D) or dont respect the legacy overscan area of most tv displays (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_area). With softsubs that problem does not occur on standalone players...

For example, the font size and type used in the l-E Under Arrest hardsubbed releases is generally a good choice; but the safe area (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_area) is not respected so that the whole picture must be shrunk to keep the subs (especially the additional and/or karaoke ones) on the screen, which is impossible when using a standalone player, if you dont want to reencode...... otherwise IT WOULD BE PERFECT (hint hint :) )

We respect and understand LEs decision not to give out .srt files--- there are to many greedy people on eBay...

New TVs for the last few years have had a VGA input, the same input PC monitors have.  This is what I use for watching things on the TV and there are no overscan problems or anything like that.
