Title: A Puzzle for any German Speakers / Austrians on the board - Theres a PRIZE!!!!
Post by: gumbaloom on March 06, 2008, 04:38:56 pm
A puzzle for any German speakers / Austrians on the board.

Theres a song upcoming in ep 16 which in Japanese is called Yama no gochisou which literally translates as Mountain Feast. I've found one name - Holdilia Cook but that hasn't translated in to finding original German or English translations yet.

The second verse talks about Ice cream and a spoon. First person who can tell me the proper German name of the song and provide a link to either an German or English translation gets a special thanks credit when we release episode 16.

Oh and we wanna get to ep 24 by Christmas as it's a Christmas episode but I won't spoil as it brought a tear to my eye when I first watched it ^^

http://www.hi-ho.ne.jp/momose/mu_title/yamano_gochisou.htm <--- theres a link to the page with a midi of the tune.

Bingo but I thought that was obvious XD

Come on step up to the plate if you want your name on an L-E fansub =P

Edit - Mystery solved at least partially

Seems it's a version of this song

Credits to DCxGandalf and HIX|TheBotKiller for helping to identify it

Just need to find the right version now.......'_'

You mean you're not gonna just wing it and use Die Einsamen Ziegenhirt?

While neither German nor Austrian I though I'd give it a shot nevertheless.

The first verse talks about tyrol / spring / song meeting

I found this version which looks to has the elements you mentioned:

Quote
1.) Oh, I went down to Peter’s spring
Where the water’s so good
And I heard, there, a cuckoo
As he called from the wood
Holluhdee, holdera deereeah
Holdera coo-coo!
Holdera deereeah
Holdera coo-coo!
Holdera deereeah
Holdera coo-coo!
Holdera deereeahoh!

2.) After Easter, there’ll be sunny days
That will melt all the snow
Then, I’ll marry my sweetheart;
We’ll be happy, I know!
Holluhdee, holdera deereeah
Holdera coo-coo, coo-coo!
Holdera deereeah
Holdera coo-coo, coo-coo!
Holdera deereeah
Holdera coo-coo, coo-coo!
Holdera deereeahoh!

3.) When I’ll marry my sweetheart
Nothing more I’ll desire
But a home for her tending
And some wood for the fire
Holluhdee, holdera deereeah
Holdera coo-coo, coo-coo, coo-coo!
Holdera deereeah
Holdera coo-coo, coo-coo, coo-coo!
Holdera deereeah
Holdera coo-coo, coo-coo, coo-coo!
Holdera deereeahoh!

The word "tyrol" should be "Tirol" and doesn't actually feature in the original song, but I suppose has been put there by the japanese translater to point to the origin of the song. The "Spring" that you mentioned is Peters Spring and is supposed to be a pub allthough it also could be possible that Spring is related to "After Easter" which is mentioned in the 2nd verse alltough I doubt it as it ruins the flow of the song. The "Song" represents the call / sound of the Cuckoo in the woods.

I suppose the title of the song reads: And now I go to Peters Pub.

Yes, in a bavarian context "bruennele" refers to an "[small] [old] well" where water for the village (or just the nearby cottages) is fetched. Because of this, its a place where the people inevitably meet, for a chat or, as in this case, just take a rest from days work and enjoy a glass of wine or two at the nearby located inn.

Hi, Im german, living with a japanese ^_^. If you do need any translations german or dutch <-> english, let me know.

Actually that same song was used in ep21 and 22 of the 1981 WMT series "Flone on the Marvelous Island", based on the novel "Swiss Family Robinson"
