salut

i am Mogambo, real name Steve, age 33, almost white and far too english

aside from anime and manga i'm into music (jazz, blues, funk, soul, reggae, dancehall, hip hop and french hip hop but NOT british hip hop...) movies (kung fu, film noir, chambara, the arty edges of the horror genre and randomness...) and books (anything from egar rice burroughs to william s. burroughs...)

i popped up awhile ago asking random questions (and making little sense) also managing to miss this thread... proving myself an ubernoob, no doubt...

if anyone feels like explaining how these fkn forum things work, that'd rock - i have no idea! until recently i only used an ancient pc for word processing, so i'm crap at all internetting except torrents!

i discovered live-evil checking for a complete rose of versailles, and i like the range of stuff here better than any other fansub group whose shit i check - u got old, new, even non-japanese and live action, which a lot of anime geeks cant tolerate...

all-time fave anime includes rose of versailles, death note, claymore, all that sentimental studio ghibli stuff and whatever the giant robot show which ran in europe as "Goldorak" in the '70s and '80s is REALLY called...

top manga includes maison ikkoku (and anything by rumiko takahashi), nausicaa, the emblamer (and everything else my mitsukazu mihara).... and gantz, which is far superior to the anime...

hm, i'm droning again... just don't get me started on how much i hate superhero comics or how sammo hung is the best kung fu star...

Re:

"I think that one has to be a little mature to like the classics, just like cinema or music. A 13 year old boy prefers action and colorful anime with a simple plot..."

Well i dunno... myself and my daughter (who's 10) have been watching and worshipping Rose of Versailles, and we were both disappointed by the quality of the Candy Candy movie but we're both fans of the show. (Now there's a series you should go for! So far i haven't found any torrents for it...)

Kids are young, not stupid, and when i and i was youth i developed many weird and idiosyncratic interests which remain with me still (pulp magazines, jazz, silent movies, weird jap shit...).

Thus, i have raised my daughter to be a geek and an excellent geek she is, even if she doesn't like Matsumoto's style. Ah, well...

MORE CLASSICS! say i, and peace all you bickering peoples, why so hating on differing opinions? Face to face you'd all be a lot politer. I hope.

Spelling the author's name wrong then trying to justify it by claiming primacy for the Anglicized spelling?

Hmm...

Let me guess... American, perchance?

Ah, those zany colonials. I love how American can make the British seem al sophisticated and European by comparison.  ;)

yo i been d/ling condor heroes, and i got 1 & 2 but got stuck on 3... live action series don't seem as popular, but since i aint the only suycka askin for condor heroes, please heed the call of us kung fu hungry souls who don't mind seeing a bit of flesh and blood acting (albeit somewhat fuzzy...)

this is all kinda new to me so i duno how i know if anyone does or not...?! aiyo, what a noob!
