Saintevil: lol, I see. You forgot to post which one of the choices you picked in the poll and the reason(s).  :P  :)

I'm not really for or against it, so I voted "Neutral. I don't think it's good or bad, and don't really care."

I do it for fun, the experience of doing something I wanted to try, and because I like anime. If other people need to add a monitary value to it, then maybe they are doing it for the wrong reasons.

Yeah, it's the same thing corrupt politicians do with their campaign money. They may say it goes towards "legitimate this or that stuff" or whatever, but we can all probably guess where it really goes.

We need beer money :)

I know this may sound like stereotyping or whatever, but do you like Ichiro Suzuki, since you live near Seattle and like MLB?  ;D I've been a big fan of his for years now. He's such an awesome athlete, IMHO.

BTW, welcome to the group. We look forward to your QCing help.  :)

Well, the Mariners are my team :). Ichiro's a great player, but I'm more of a Ken Griffey Jr. fan myself.

Since I've got my access now, I thought I'd introduce myself.

My name is Steve, I'm 28 and live about 30 miles north of Seattle in a town called Everett.

I've watched anime for about 7 years and really got into in it maybe 4 years ago. I've only been doing to torrent and IRC thing for aout 2 years.

My favs would be Beck, Cowboy Bebop, Honey and Clover, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Of the more current stuff, I really like Toradora and Detroit Metal City.

Outside of anime, I'm a big sports fan (NFL, MLB, MMA), WWE, video games, pub quizes and online sports sims. I have a Chihuahua named Mocha and two cats, Krauser and Grover. Also, I make a mean grilled PBnJ

Hope to contribute to the QC team the best I can and look forward to helping in anyway.

General Forum / Re: What got you started into watching fansubs?

I watched Transformers in the 80s and loved it. Used to eat my cereal in front of the TV and watch it, but I wasn't really aware that it was anime.

About 7 years ago, when I got fired from a job and was watching alot of Cowboy Bebop and FLCL on Adult Swim. I started watching it more regularly, but never really got into anime until I moved out of my house and had 3 other roommates.

One of my roomates was really into it and had a few series on DVD, so I checked them out. I eventually started buying my own series and found good deals for DVDs on Rightstuf.com (25 DVDs for $100 deals) and deepdiscount.com. I was content with my DVD releases and didn't look too hard for anything that wasn't released in the US. Then ANN's rating system changed me.....

I was looking at the top rated series by votes and noticed that a few of them, Honey and Clover and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya were listed. I had never heard of these series and headed to a forum to find more info on them behold, I found that these series could be watched online. I searched them out and watched them both on some streaming site, then found out about bittorrents and IRC, and Animesuki, and the rest is history.
