Title: nOObs to this forums introduce yourself HERE
Post by: Tsubasa on November 07, 2006, 09:33:01 am
Hello people.
I've noticed this board gets many new threads of the variety 'Hi, I'm new'. Instead of having a whole new thread which is likely to get at the most three replies and then die off to the next pages, I thought it would be better to have a single thread where newcomers to the le forums can introduce themselves. Admins are welcome to merge any such single-purpose thread into this thread.

First of all, to all newcomers,
Welcome to the Live-eviL forums. Please read the rules and regulations before posting. They can be found in Current and Future Projects board. Anything outside that, we expect your common sense to guide you.

Please feel free to introduce yourselves here. Maybe also tell us:
a) How you came to know of us.
b) What le shows do you watch and why you like them.
c) What other shows you'd like to try.
d) How often you're likely to visit us and post.

Also, you're welcome to request info regarding any of our stuff you'd like to give a shot but the synopsis in our homepage and whatever you know about it so far is not making decisions any easier for you. However no question should call for any material of the spoiler variety.

In advance, nice to meet you. ^^

Hiya! ;D

I'm pretty much a newblet to these forums. I first decided to visit because of my love for Death Note. I've been a regular of many other fansub forums, this is my first time checking out Live-Evil in both releases and forums, heh. I imagine I'll get to know most of you the longer I stick around. :P

Where to begin...
Joined forum roughly 3 minutes ago.
The first fan-sub anime of yours I began to watch was Tsubasa Chronicle, but only after it was dropped.
But of course, with the internet's resources I downloaded the first season and watched the second season up until the last episodes the joint project had finished.

But I should start from the beginning...
First anime I ever watched was Devil Hunter Yohkko, then Vampire hunter D, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, and once upon a time when Ronin Warriors ( Samuarai Yoirden Troopers isn't it?) was showed in US on cable.

Recently last year is when I became heavily involved with the pleasures of anime indulgence. I say indulgence because "watching" or "viewing" doesn't quite capture the enjoyment the comes.
I got into Naruto( before the HORRID fillers started) and Bleach.
I liked Lunar anime's Bleach veeeerrrry much but of course they don't do license fansubs as most groups don't and that was dropped.
So yes, DB was my source for Naruto and Bleach...
I occasionally saw the group venture with TC but didn't pay much attention and when they annoucned it was dropped I still didn't give it a chance.

It was only after I could no longer stomach the horrible fillers that I stumbled upon TC ( now I looked at the old TC thread and now discussing that in detail is more like spam now but I dare do say the YGO releases are a little less in quality)

Currently I am on the edge of my seat waiting for Death Note 6 to finish downloading...seeds went bye-bye...tracker down perhaps?
Alas good things are waiting for and with that in mind I sit patiently.

Current shows I watch:
Death Note of course ;D
Bleach, Black Blood Brothers,Busou Renkin, Tsubasa Chronicle, Jigoku shoujo futakumori( shows with death are cool ;D), Tenpo Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi, pumpkin scissors, eyeshield 21 ( understaffed much???...I didn't pass the QC test and couldn't help out *sigh...is my English that bad??...wait don't answer)
and once Ghost Hunt finishing downloading I'll see if I stick with that.

Too much time? yes Evil leacher?no I try to at least seed each download for another day. Animaniac?maybe Otaku? possibly

I think that's enough for now.

Much appreciation for all your hard work.どうもありがとうございます

Haha, quite a history, But I just made a 2 hours-worth of post so all I will say for now is....don't be the one to call yourself Otaku. They'd never do that in Japan.

And you're welcome.

My other personality thinks that of myself...don't ask...
And yes by your post count and seeing how you start most threads I expect your fingers to be a little sore...also note for whatever given reason I was hoping you would respond to a portion of my introduction...well that's enough knowledge about me for now.

Welcome to both Kirstie and Draconis.   :)

Jigoku shoujo futakumori( shows with death are cool...

once Ghost Hunt finishing downloading I'll see if I stick with that.
I couldn't agree more with that "shows with death are cool" statement.  I'm also a big fan of darker shows.
Ghost Hunt is awesome.  Right now, it's probably my second favorite show from this season (behind Death Note).  The second episode ends on such a cliffhanger though, and now I'm left suffering until episode 3 is released.

Again, welcome to the L-E forums and be sure to post lots to give Tsubie something to respond to.  ;)

Yes, I agree Ghost Hunt is good and I'm picking that up as well...but for me
it falls short to Death Note and Jigoku Shoujo Futakumori.
Title: Re: nOObs to this forums introduce yourself HERE
Post by: Tsubasa on November 12, 2006, 08:50:14 am
Hmmm, of the absolutely current shows, I am watching the following in their order of preference:
1) Death Note
2) Ghost Hunt
3) Kanon
4) Sumomo Momomo
5) Asatte no Houkou
6) Yamato Nadeshiko Shinchi Henge.

I researched all of the other shows on the current season line-up too but they didn't seem to be something I'd thoroughly enjoy in the long run since, e.g. Pumpkin Scissors or Negima. Can someone suggest any other title worth watching AND burning?

/me shudders at the idea that she'll have to burn all those and some more into 700 MB CDs.
Slow internet + 40GB hard disk which is full of stuff you cannot empty + living in a place where DVD burners= $$$ + failing monitor = you shouldn't be an anime fan ~_~ AND a fansubber. LOL

Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori's Hell Girl character is devilishly cute and goes along with death aspect of Death Note. IMHO it is one of the best shows out right now and worth the DL and burn.

Pumpkin scissors doesn't stand out yes, that's true but certain aspects of the show stand out at times and provide enough for me to watch it.

I enjoy the simple storyline and action of Busou Renkin...then again I really enjoyed Law of Ueki and the underdog with unrelenting courage saves the day isn't the story for everyone.

BBB ( Black Blood Brothers) might look simple on the surface but the past history of the bloodlines begin to reveal themselves as each episode passes and makes the story more interesting to follow...also note the action a + for me.

Negima? is a re-drawn re-release of Mahou Sensei Negima which I did watch the 26 episodes with enthuasium but even with improved graphics I already know what happens and haven't bothered with the re-telling and patiently wait for the second season...as the manga has numerous volumes.

Tenpo Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi has a differnent storyline then most animes out and tries to seperate itself from the norm.
But everytime I see the "Meji Era" I can only think about Kenshin lol
It is a change of pace , but the story for me doesn't seem quite clear enough to start but perhaps that is the angle the creators were looking for.
Drawing universal power from words is definetly not a bad thing.

That's my cents of them anyways.

a) How you came to know of us.

Was watching [AonE-AnY]'s "Ah! My Goddess" and on the Animeyuki website there was a glowing review about a little known fansub group doing a great job on a series called "Death Note."

b) What le shows do you watch and why you like them.

Death Note.  Makes you think.  Two geniuses-- one specializing in deception, the other in observation-- go head to head.  Mind games ensue.  What's not to like?

c) What other shows you'd like to try.

No clue.

d) How often you're likely to visit us and post.

Pretty active in the Death Note master thread.   I probably won't stray far from there, although I've been on IRC a handful of times and people seemed nice.

Post by: Michael on December 12, 2006, 07:26:55 pm
Greetings,

My name is Michael and I'm 19.8 years old.  I'm currently a sophomore Computer Science/Mathematics major/minor at Longwood University (http://www.longwood.edu/) in Farmville, VA.

My hobbies are coding/programming, learning new programming languages, and watching Anime.

I'm relatively new to the Anime scene.  I didn't start watching Anime, in particular fansubbed, regularly until about 1.5 years ago.  Sadly, it was fansubbed Naruto that acted as my "Gateway Anime".  Of course I did watch irregularly on TV dubbed Anime as a child, as well as go through a hardcore Pokemon phase ~7 years ago.  However, I've been coined as a "Monster" on one forum for having consumed a vast amount of Anime in only 1.5 years.

I'm the Founder/President of my University's Anime Club (http://www.luanime.com/forum), which became an official organization this Fall.

a)  I decided to register on the L-E forums is mainly due to the fact that I started frequenting #Live-eviL@irc.enterthegame.com about 3 weeks ago, and discovered that the members of L-E are a diverse group of dedicated fansubbers who are easy to talk to and are overall great people.  Another reason is because I recently left a forum/community that I had been at for more than 3 years, and so I'm currently looking for a new place to call home.

b)  It's actually extremely hard for me the list my favorite Anime series because there are so many, so I'll just list random ones that I've listed on my Facebook profile:

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora, Voices of a Distant Star, Saiunkoku Monogatari, Golden Boy, Ginban Kaleidoscope, REC, Lamune, I``S Pure, Death Note, Starship Operators, Zero no Tsukaima, Kaleido Star, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, School Rumble, Fate/Stay Night, Shakugan no Shana, Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Scrapped Princess, Love Hina

c)  I like a broad range of genres.  However, in particular I enjoy Romance (can't be too blatantly shoujo) and Romantic Comedies.  Thus, I'm always looking for good Romance and Romantic Comedy Animes.

d)  I'm always looking to procrastinate, so on average I'd probably visit/post daily.

EDIT:  My IRC nick is mds820

EDIT2:  Hey, I'm not a nOOb!  I'm a newb!

Hello to all of you,I am a poor Greek that depends on fansubs rather than watching anime on TV (We don't have more than two,and not so good :( )I've seen your work in death note and I thought ;Why not come here and say hi and thanks to the people who work hard and allow you to watch some kick ass anime?:P
I am 17 years old and my hobbies are,um..Anime,Music,Surfing the Internet, ancient Greek thought etc..I admit my being a Japan-fanboy but, hey,we all are more or less in some time of our life lol.(Since we are here in this forum :P)
b)Death note is my favourite anime because of its intellect,it's not just some guy who kicks ass all of the time like DB.
c) I'd like to watch Desert Punk which is also something different that any of the other anime series I have watched.(I have only watched DP episode 1 as of now)
d)I dunno how often I will post here  ??? it depends

Anyhow, thats' my intro here, and to be honest,I am downloading from the group that releases fastest the Death Note episodes, because I can't wait :P Sorry but it's the truth

P.S.;If someone wondered,yeah I use the :P smily frequently

Welcome to blip2, xjapan, Michael, and MorgothErmis.  (And to twik too, although I'm a bit late on that.)

Wow, some of you are quite specific in your responses... ^^

Michael: I see a lot of my favorite shows listed in your post.  Voices of a Distant Star is one of my all-time favorite anime.

MorgothErmis: I tend to overuse that smiley as well.  I'm trying to break the habit.

Anyway, enjoy your stay.  Make sure to follow the rules (do we even have rules for the forum posted somewhere?) and post often to liven this place up.

-Just happened to come across as a friend recomended DN.

b) What shows do you watch and why do you like them.

*These are the ones i have been watching or have watched, quite a few as i am new to Anime. I have also watched some other stuff but nothing that i have liked or had time to watch trough completely. The reason why i like Anime is simply the fact that it differs from the western type of entertainment.

d) How often are you likely to visit us and post.

About my nickname: yes, this really IS my nickname IRL. Since "R" and "L" are the same in Japanese, Riza (from FMA) was often translated as Liza or Lisa. So thus I was saved from being compared to a saxaphone-playing Simpson. ^_^

a) How you came to know of us.
AnimeSuki. And y'all are the reason I discovered Matsumoto's brilliance.

b) What le shows do you watch and why you like them.
I'm currently almost done with what's translated of Space Pirate Captain Harlock.

c) What other shows you'd like to try.
Anything else by Matsumoto, and probably everything else if I'm bored enough. But honestly, I would have had little to no interest in Tsubasa, because I don't really like CLAMP. I've just never been overly impressed by the art or storytelling (though I do like the rather cute series of Angelic Layer, but that's mostly fluff).

d) How often you're likely to visit us and post.
Not a clue. I tend to be a bit of a lurker, because I don't like making posts that pretty much say "I agree".
Title: Re: nOObs to this forums introduce yourself HERE

CLAMP just gives you the facts and expects you to figure what they're trying to imply using thinking methology beyond common sense.

Don't insult my intelligence. A lot of novels do that to great degree (which, unfortunately, is why I hated the Great Gatsby the first time I read it, though it really stuck with me and I don't hate it anymore), it's just that there's very little behind the facts. I think the idea of the clow cards was unique, but I honestly like strong characterization before action (a good fight scene is fun too, though). There needs to be anime that doesn't try to prove anything, and doesn't try to make you think too hard or say something about the human condition. And I like that sometimes. But honestly, I'd rather go play a video game.

...er... sorry. I'm not trying to start a flame war here, I swear. I just never found CLAMP's artwork or characters to be the type that would leave me in a trance for days trying to think over something or guess what happens next. But also I'm the type of person who figures out the major plot-twist of the movie within the first ten minutes of 'meeting' a character.

Anyway, for Tias, the IRC channel is #live-evil on EnterTheGame server.  It is posted on the main page of L-E's site, along with a link to the botlist, so you can even check to see which bots have DN before joining the channel.

Im currently training to be a product designer in college... with too many projects and lab reports, they still havent started teaching us Photoshop!

I suppose I'll make myself known here then.

The name's Shen, but most people call me Lu (My last Name). I'm a college student currently and I'm 19 years old. I actually just restarted watching anime after a long hiatus. And now I'm hooked. ^.^

a) I suppose I found you guys from watching Tsubasa Chronicles (Season 1) which it seems you guys subbed in a joint effort with DB.

b) As far as actual TV shows, Simpsons and Family Guy. As far as Anime goes, that would be anything in the realm of Fantasy, Comedy, and Romance, which is preferred. I'll watch mostly anything, except those with Excessive violence and such (usually found in Horror related genres).

c) I'm pretty open for anything (again, not a big fan of Horror. The only horror I've watched is Blood+, and that was pushing it)

d) I have a lot of free time on my hands, so I'll visit somewhat often I suppose. I'm thinking about trying out fansubbing since it's always seemed interesting since I started watching Anime again. I'll be taking Japanese next year, so with a bit of luck, I might become a decent translator. ^.^
Title: Re: nOObs to this forums introduce yourself HERE
Post by: Tsubasa on April 03, 2007, 01:41:00 pm
I think the most enjoyable way to become a translator fast is to watch a lot of Japanese programs without subtitles like I had to do in Japan. Of-course, back then I was also very young. But my learning Japanese was a fun experience as it didn't involve books and any 'have to's.  Many people tell me to take Japanese when I am in college as I am already fluent but when a hobby becomes a have to for me, I tend to lose interest in it. Maybe I will consider it if the college I plan to enrol in has an exchange program to Japan or something. That'll be interesting.

Ah...sounds a lot like my story, except I'm from Taiwan, so I picked up a fair amount of mandarin. My parents want me to take Elementary Chinese for some reason, but I really didn't see the need to since the only thing I'm lacking right now is Vocabulary. ^_^;;

Japanese, on the other hand, is an interest that I have myself. So if I could pick up the basics of Japanese, I thought I could go from there and teach myself the rest. Learning a language can be divided into three parts: Learning the Mechanics, Gain a respectable vocabulary, and Practical use. I think I'm fairly confident in myself to do the last two steps myself. ^.^

Post by: PsychoShinji on July 03, 2007, 11:30:37 pm
Hi there! I'm Psychoshinji. My real name is Sarah M. I've been an anime fan since I was in the 4th grade and Sailor Moon came on syndicated television (so, I'd say I've been a fan for about 12 years now, though I've always loved animation and comic books). I'm 21 years old, and I'm currently studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design majoring in Sequential Art aka Comics and Graphic Novels! I aim to be a manga artist (with my own style of course), and I'm heavily influenced by Gainax and Leiji Matsumoto. I also love to cosplay. I've cosplayed Shinji Ikari, Tetsuro Hoshino, Kodai Susumu (Derek Wildstar in SBlazers), etc.
If you feel inclined, please check out my cosplay gallery: http://images.cosplay.com/gallery.php?member=4809&cat=500

a) I found the first episode of GE999 TV on youtube, and immediately fell in love with the show. I saw the live-evil address in the halfway point and visited the site right after!

b) I watch Galaxy Express 999, Captain Harlock 1978, and Captain Harlock SSX. I just recently downloaded Space Symphony Maetel. I love these series because I am always inspired by the characters' actions and the sincerity behind those actions. I love anime that emphasizes philosophy and staying true to what you believe. Tochiro Oyama is a character I particularly adore. I also became exposed to GE999 when I was just starting out as a fan of manga and anime, through Animerica magazine.

c) I'd love to see Maison Ikkoku and some of the original Gundam series. I'm a big fan of oldschool anime; Evangelion is my favorite though. But really, I'm up for any new shows that capture my interest. I like all genres!

d) I'm likely to visit at least every other day. As for posting, probably once every week/week and a half.

It's nice to meet everyone!

Oh good, another Matsumoto enthusiast!  ^_^
I'm somewhat of an artist too, and his work really inspires me - I'd love to see art from you, too!

I just finished Space Symphony Maetel, and although I gritted my teeth through the terrible explosions and fakey 3D ships, I have to admit it was well worth my time - I cried at the end like the sappy teenager I am, lol.  It was also my first real encounter with Tochiro, and oddly enough I've grown to be extremely fond of him too!  ^____^;;;;  I even liked him more than Harlock in that show!  *feels guilty*

th-the one part.. where he pushes his glasses up... *screams hysterically*

okay, well, enough said about that.  haha.
and, i'm Sapphi as you know, but i'm Sapphi in real life too, it's not my real name, but i make everyone call me that anyway.  ^_^

so, nice to meet you, and if you ever want to chat about the wonders of Matsumoto-sensei's universe, you know where to find me!   ;D

Hi Sapphi! :D Nice to meet you too!

(And yes, Tochiro is awesomeness. I have a hard time choosing between him and Harlock too, lol). I love your icon! It's really adorable XD. Matsumoto has such a fondness for animals, I love how adorable he draws them. I would love to make a replica puppet of the Tokarga bird and sit him on my shoulder for cosplay lol.

I'll send you a link to my art site once I get it all settled! :D Once again it's great to meet ya and hope to talk to you more through the forums!

salut

i am Mogambo, real name Steve, age 33, almost white and far too english

aside from anime and manga i'm into music (jazz, blues, funk, soul, reggae, dancehall, hip hop and french hip hop but NOT british hip hop...) movies (kung fu, film noir, chambara, the arty edges of the horror genre and randomness...) and books (anything from egar rice burroughs to william s. burroughs...)

i popped up awhile ago asking random questions (and making little sense) also managing to miss this thread... proving myself an ubernoob, no doubt...

if anyone feels like explaining how these fkn forum things work, that'd rock - i have no idea! until recently i only used an ancient pc for word processing, so i'm crap at all internetting except torrents!

i discovered live-evil checking for a complete rose of versailles, and i like the range of stuff here better than any other fansub group whose shit i check - u got old, new, even non-japanese and live action, which a lot of anime geeks cant tolerate...

all-time fave anime includes rose of versailles, death note, claymore, all that sentimental studio ghibli stuff and whatever the giant robot show which ran in europe as "Goldorak" in the '70s and '80s is REALLY called...

top manga includes maison ikkoku (and anything by rumiko takahashi), nausicaa, the emblamer (and everything else my mitsukazu mihara).... and gantz, which is far superior to the anime...

hm, i'm droning again... just don't get me started on how much i hate superhero comics or how sammo hung is the best kung fu star...

My all-time heroine is Sailor Moon. I own the whole first season 8 DVD Box-set. (the blue beautyful box).

I draw alot, want to call myself as an artist, but I'm not quite there. Feel fre to visit me at;  http://linnzy.deviantart.com/gallery/

I also love to write, but I don't like to write on the computer, still dreams to publish my own childrens book...

Uuuuuummm...yeah, that was all about me for this time.

Edit;

a) How you came to know of us.

Think it was when I looked for some sailor mon episodes or Rose of versaille or some other anime - however I noticed that L-E popped up alot.

b) What le shows do you watch and why you like them.

So many that it's hard to tell without boring everyone to death!

c) What other shows you'd like to try.

Oh, there's a few, but I don't remember all right now....something that I am curious about is The Little Princess (something like that, don't remember the full name), Robin Hood and the Jungle Book (old-school anime)

d) How often you're likely to visit us and post.

Dunno, I'm not very good at forums...^^

Hi! Another "Noob" here ...

How I came to know of LE?.
The excellent works on Taiho... Season II.
Read the Manga, liked the Manga, bought the Season I DVDs, and then ... no more Taiho  ... Season II on japanese TV, live translated ... until LE saved the day!!  :)

Other anime I like -
Urusei*Yatsura back in the 80/90ies and other stuff by Takahashi-sama
Ah My Goddess, You Are Under Arrest and other Fujishima Manga based
Dirty Pair ( the Classic TV/OVA Series)
Bubblegum Crisis ...

As you may notice, slightly preferring classic and classic-style manga and anime from the 80s 90s - hey what do you expect I'm 40+ now and grew up with that  8)

Hi!

a I found LE through animesuki, again for Taiho Shichauzo second season.

b I have several other fansubs, but there haven't been any other LE one's yet.

c I don't really have a lot of ways to find shows outside of fansubs... so I can't really make any suggestions.

d I'll probably be here a lot. I'm visiting while at the new job, and don't have down time per se, but lots of "hurry up and wait" moments in my duties.

Hi.  I'm Brian.  I'm older than most of you.  I've been an anime fan for years.  My earliest experiences were some of the butchered American releases on VHS like Macron 1, Battle For Moon Station Dallos, Clash Of The Bionoids, and so on.  My first love was Robotech (yes butchered also, but still my first love)  I love Voltron and the Transformers also.

My top three anime of all time are Robotech, Wolf's Rain, and Samurai Champloo.  There are many many more than are great as well.

My hobbies are playing sci-fi movies, stunt kites, skateboarding, rollerblading, airsoft, and many more.
My passions are making techno music, anime, and listening to music.

If anyone on here makes their own music, I would love to hear what you've done.  I have a lot of stuff out on CD and always like to be inspired by other talented people; especially those who are better than me.

If anyone wants to talk about anime and j-pop, drop my a note.  I love making friends and geeking out with people over the things we're crazy about.

I actually found this website through researching Galaxy Express 999.  It seems like a pretty cool place to chat.

Fansub.tv brought me here. I'd been leeching of couple of LE's shows via that site and decided to pop on over and see what was on the group's site.
LE's shows that I'm following are YUA: Full Throttle and Shion no Ou. I also discovered and nabbed Initial D Stage 4.
Typically I lurk forums and don't post much but I figured it would be polite to introduce myself.

I had to read this whole thread before posting because I have been senile since a very early age, and I had to make sure I hadn't been here before, because I'm sure I was here, but... Uh, anyway...

Hmm... I guess I've been seeing Tofu in the credits of fansubs for, what... More than 10 years, is that even possible? I remember (or maybe I'm just making it up, I can't tell for sure) once when somebody in some forum announced that L-E was a speedsubbing group and that they did parody subs without announcing them as such. To this day I wonder what prompted that shocking revelation.

I am a mostly retired fansubber. I did half a dozen dorama, and started working on an anime (that will remain nameless), but I seem to be too stress-out prone to handle it. The last project I actually finished was HERO (Broadcast in 2001, we subbed it in 2007 when dvd rips became available) with Vulcan300 fansubs.

I really appreciate that L-E does older shows. Younger anime fans need to realize that these older shows are what the creators of the new shows were inspired by, and that historical context is not a four letter word.

I own around 600 genuine licensed anime dvd's, but would burn them in a heartbeat given the choice between them and fansubs. I really wonder what the heck is wrong with those  commercial subbing people and their cultural neutralization agenda.

Oh, oh, I have a funny (true) story:

I was at a hollywood party, and there were all these industry types there,
and I was trying to monkeywrench their hip trendiness by talking tirelessly
about Sailor Moon. Well, this one fellow went for the bait, and said that he
had just been filming in Canada and had worked with an actress who had
dubbed Sailor Moon. He couldn't remember her name, and I said "Oh, do
you mean Terri Hawkes?"... And he was at first very enthusiastic over the
fact that I knew her name, but then he noticed that everyone else was
 backing away from us, slowly...

Hi, welcome to the boards!

Yeah, Sindobook is right... I started really getting involved with digisubs in 2001 so it's only been 7 years, but I did do some late VHS starting in 1998 or so, so it is /possible/ though unlikely you saw some stuff I did back then :)

Yes, I am trying to push even more effort of converting some of the younger fans onto the older stuff. This year I am making a strong effort for titles such as KOR, Galaxy Express 999, and one yet to be released title...

That story about the Sailor Moon dubbing is hilarious! We've all had moments like that, I think lol

You may be curious to read the history of L-E I wrote up, if you haven't already: http://www.live-evil.org/history-of-live-evil

In regards to the speedsub and parody thing... They may have confused us a bit by the project we subtitled with DB, as they're the king of speedsubbing groups and do release quite a few parodies. We've also released parodies before (Naruto and Gakuen Heaven) but only on the 1st of April ;)

Hi Tofu!

I read the Live-Evil history, and an article by Sindobook, and some other historical bits-and-pieces related to Live-Evil and subbing. It's all very interesting!
I think the only VHS subs I ever saw were a couple of VKLL's Sailor Moon and one of David Jao's Escaflowne... I must have first seen Live-Evil digisubs around 2002... Seven rounds up to 10, right?

Since I mostly watch anime with my daughter, I wind up watching mostly shoujo (though she really likes Harlock and 999) so I tend to have a lot of those 'people backing slowly away' moments when I talk about a show that I'm watching. I rarely get past the name "Creamy Mami" and her penchant for defending yakuza before losing my audience ;^)

Hello.  I'm tenkenX6.  I've been a hardcore anime fan for quite awhile now.  I pretty much watch anything, new and old, as long as it interests me.  Anyways, I decided I would join this forum, since I was interested in helping the group out.  If that will actually happen or not depends on the "higher ups".  :D

Hi!

Greetings from Peru. Have been watching anime since I was a kid. At the time didn`t know it was anime, just cartoons. Later a got into manga and anime and been reading and watching ever since. I think heard about L-E from mangaupdate, an interview about fansub. I watched most of the titles some years back, but when I saw the quality of your works, I started to get most of them. Thanks and keep the good work.

Hi!
I am random KJFG (nick is just one old joke) mostly just lurking in shadows.

But today I am just little bored maybe, it is quite nice Sunday day out there, but here I am hoping for miracle to hapen.
Currently I am mainly watching KOR, an time to time catching up to Shion no Ou and D.Gray-man, or maybe I should say I am re-watching KOR. Maybe I am addicted or some (did you guys really have bring it up surface again, I did make some effort see my old VHS after that).

About past
First anime I did ever see was Galaxy Express 999 and so.
Ranma ½ did come to see sometime, Rose of Versailes was great in past, I probably should check if it is still as great it wast then. And btw Cat´s Eye  :).
And Juuni Kokki that was great, shame that it did end as soon as it did.
KGNE there lot to say about that, it was great in complete, but I really prefer it as 2 episode serie, even thou when I only watch those 2 first episodes it make me urgent to watch more.

Looks like I have write some random stuff above which maybe weren´t part of this "Topic", either case lets say some word about something, I prefer manga over anime no offence to any fansubber/animefan/etc.
So if anyone feel bored or find themself wondering what to read next, I suggest try out one of my favorites which would be a Planet Ladder, otherwise to say about that isn´t the thing most of ppl, I really like it.

Maybe I should but Mirc up again and go see if that Miracle would have hapen. See you guys, girls, freaks and otakus...

Hi, I'm from sweden (were all the great metal bands come from)

Punk/metal musician. Singer and guitarplayer.
I love watching anime in my spare time. And reading fantasy and all that nerdy stuff that nerds do. Basically I am a nerd and a guy who loves to play fast, agressive and catchy music.

When I don't work by sorting packages or are busy by making no money whatsoever with playing punkrock or death metal just for the fun of it I Read Loads and loads of manga and comics and fantasy books and so on... Manga wise it's detective conan, ranma½, Hellsing, oh my goddess and one piece right now I'm in the middle of trying to finish... Why can't any fansub group sub detective conan? :'(

I would buy the dvds if there weren't for the change of names on the characters and so on... guess I am somewhat of a purist then... But I want it to be the way it was originally meant to be!

Hello,  I am a long time anime fan and have been apart of the community for many years now and recently found your group by accident as one of the tube sites out there had a few of your episodes of galaxy express 999.  The series, which has eluded me for almost half a decade now and now you are currently working on subbing it actually brought tears to my eyes, as i will finally be able to watch the series that first got me into anime in the first place.  I have always been a fan of support those who work so hard to help give joy to the fans around the world, and though i did not see one, if you have a place one can donate to please let me know and i will try and help donate the best i can.  I also notices that you are looking for QCer's and would love and try and help out the best i can.  In short, i truly thank you for the work you do and putting out anime that most people have never heard of.

Hello and welcome to the forums.  ;D Even though I haven't been with the group for very long, I would like to thank you for your kind comments.  I'm sure the other members will welcome the compliment.  Anyways, if you're interested in QCing, you should go to our IRC channel and talk to one of the OPs about it.  :)

Hi. {bows}

I love cute anime, yes that includes the world masterpiece series. I am so happy that you guys are working on some of them! Sadly, I'm very much a beginner with Japanese, nor have I ever done any of the other parts of the fansubbing process. But I am a librarian, so if you need something organized, I am your person:)

Uh, hi. I decided to join L-E because of absolutely no reason. Ya, srsly. I think I'll just hang around here and see how it turns out. Idling FTW.

I feel lazy.

 :-\

Man, that was a terrible introduction. Okay so here's a good one. I'm a computer engineering major who is hopefully planning to attend San Jose State Uni by next Jan as a senior transfer. I rike anime and manga and is obsessed by technology. One day I hope to own a beastly computer so that I can encode episodes faster and try out different codecs and settings. Yah, that's about it.

Hi from another n00b  :)

My name's Steve, a long-time anime fan from the UK.

I found my way here thanks to your work on the classics like Harlock, GE999 and QM, but I'm also enjoying Shion and Twenty Faces.
I've QC'd a couple of episodes already,  hopefully I can continue and give something back to the community.

My favourite shows are a bit of a mixed bag... Aria, Monster, Gunbuster, Ichigo Mashimaro, Hajime no Ippo, Beck.

Nice to hear that you guys are planning to release Dirty Pair TV in the future, I'll be looking forward to that.

I have been watching anime in one form or another since the late 70's.

Uh, yeah... I'm new too.

Actually, I've been watching Live-eviL stuff for years.  I've got DAQ #1, so I know it's at least as far back as 2003.  ;D

I download a ton of stuff but don't actually watch too much of it.  Too much bandwidth and too little free time.  So I'm really not up on new shows.  Because that excuse is getting pretty old, I decided to become a translator.  Now I have a really excellent excuse for not watching new stuff... Actually that's not completely true.  It turns out I knew an LE staffer IRL from back in the day, but didn't know it, and she asked me to join (to work on Snow Queen)  It took more than a year for me to say that I'd do it.  I hesitated for a long time because I thought my skills wouldn't be up to the high standard of quality that LE has.

Anyway, I started with LE in May or June, and I've been doing Snow Queen since episode 16, so when that's late or delayed it is occasionally my fault.  I've also been doing TL checks for some shows like DAQ (36-45) and GE999 (33).  And I translated episode 3 of Lamune whateverthisiterationiscalled.  The release pipeline is long, and while translation is the most necessary step, it doesn't usually take the longest.

So hi.  I'd have been on the forums earlier, but, well... I'm an old man (started fansubbing in 1993, but took a break from 1995-2008 :P ) and I still like email better.  IRC is still good, though.

Could be.  But due to some local club politics, everyone (except me) who'd been an officer prior to around 2001 was either totally not involved anymore or was sort of in extreme stealth mode.  So until after I agreed to start working for LE, I just thought she was some random person who happened to be on our club mailing list...

Since I've got my access now, I thought I'd introduce myself.

My name is Steve, I'm 28 and live about 30 miles north of Seattle in a town called Everett.

I've watched anime for about 7 years and really got into in it maybe 4 years ago. I've only been doing to torrent and IRC thing for aout 2 years.

My favs would be Beck, Cowboy Bebop, Honey and Clover, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Of the more current stuff, I really like Toradora and Detroit Metal City.

Outside of anime, I'm a big sports fan (NFL, MLB, MMA), WWE, video games, pub quizes and online sports sims. I have a Chihuahua named Mocha and two cats, Krauser and Grover. Also, I make a mean grilled PBnJ

Hope to contribute to the QC team the best I can and look forward to helping in anyway.

I know this may sound like stereotyping or whatever, but do you like Ichiro Suzuki, since you live near Seattle and like MLB?  ;D I've been a big fan of his for years now. He's such an awesome athlete, IMHO.

Well, not really a newcomer to this site, but since I've recently been allowed to do some QC:ing for L-E it might be polite to give a little intro  :)

I'm a relative newcomer in the anime world, but I've spent a lot of time watching the last one and a half year or so and have developed a serious addiction to subbed japanese shows... After a while I felt bad about only using other people's work, so I applied for a job here. Despite being a non-native English speaker I was kindly given a chance.

Favorite animes are things like Cowboy Bebop, Azumanga Daioh, Fullmetal Alchemist, Shakugan no Shana, top-line Ghibli films, and actually Shion no Ou and Nijuu Mensou from here.

I live in the middle of Sweden, and currently my country it not showing its best side: -0.5C and snowing/raining  :P

For practical reasons I often go by the shorter CP.

Hello, I just started downloading from Live-evil a couple days ago, so I wanted to come on and introduce myself.

Im 23, a philsophy major, and live a little outside of Chicago. I've been watching anime since I was little, and the first thing I ever saw was the first Galaxy Express 999 movie. I've seen broadened my horizons and watched quite a lot, but my heart has always resided with Leiji Matsumoto. Unfortunately some of his shows are incredibly hard to find. So when I discovered Live-evil uploading so many of his shows, it filled with excitement. I would finally get to see things I've been looking for, for so long^^

So, apart from introducing myself, I'd also like to say thanks to all the Live-evil members who take the time to put out the Matsumoto shows.

Hi my name is Ash and I'm a total newbie ^^;

a) How you came to know of us.
Through various fan subs

b) What shows do you watch and why you like them.
Leiji. BIG fan of Leiji Matsumoto. So I like Captain Harlock, Galaxy Express 999 and other works ^^ Why I like them? Because:
1) Harlock. He owns.
2) Space pirates. Also owns.
3) Science fiction.
4) Great characters
5) Great stories.
6) Harlock. Because he owns.

c) What other shows you'd like to try.
Umm ... you mean shows I would like to see right? ... I would love to see the "Leiji-Three" (Ha ha My names are so bad X3) Which is Arei no Kagami, The legend of marine snow and Saint Elmo- With the light (BEcause apparently Saint Elmo (which was leiji's only voice acting role) has a really funny scene with him)

See!!! Look at my fan-ness!

d) How often you're likely to visit us and post.
Actually for the last few months I check out this website once a day to see any new releases. I think it will continue (but now I will post)

Ah, anyway, I'm one of the fresh-meat-QCs, I live in Germany and I'm currently vacation! Yay!
I came to know L-E because I was frantically looking for Queen Millennia, which has even been dubbed into German, but never has been released on VHS or DVD.
Being a student, I have a lot of time most of the time, so I guess it's rather easy to find me online in IRC.

Well, that's it, I hope nobody wants to hit me for being out of it* so often :D

 [:hello]

Well hiya!

I am one of those creepy older guys who spends all his time watching ecchi boing & pantsu anime.  OK, maybe not all my time, but most of it.  Truth be told I watch just about any anime I can get my hands on.  I like watching the slice of life and historical anime the most.  I prefer comedy to most other genres.  I am not a big fan of horror, although I do like vampire anime like Hellsing, MoonPhase and Blood+ as well as comedies like Karin and Rosario & Vampire.  I tend to get turned off by hack and slash films.  I like beautiful anime that make me stare at the backgrounds.  Anything by Studio Ghibli.  I really liked Moribito - Guardian of the Sacred Spirit and Last Exile.  I also enjoy watching AMV's.  Some of my current favorite shows have been K-ON, Cross Game, Tears to Tiara, Valkyria Cronicles, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Spice & Wolf II, TMoHS S2, Hayate - Combat Butler S2, and a lot of other shows.  I suppose the main show L-E has been subbing that I like is The Daughter of Twenty Faces..  I am glad that the series was finally completed.  ;D
I have also been getting You're Under Arrest - Full Throttle and Future Boy Conan, and enjoyed Detective Academy Q.  I wish Yawara hadn't been licensed since I don't know when I will get a chance to see the rest of it!  Live-Evil, GAMBARE!   [:burtonsnowboard]

I find out about all fansubbing groups by visiting AniDB.  By looking at their calendar I can see what anime are currently being released and what fansubbers are currently subbing them.  I am really looking forward to Inuyasha (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=6716) being finished as well as the release of the newest CLAMP work Kobato (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=6258).

a) How you came to know of us.
I think Initial D 4th Stage or Death Note was my first le anime.

b) What le shows do you watch and why you like them.
Tokyo Marble Chocolate was a cute story told from opposing perspectives. The Daughter of Twenty Faces was a refreshing take on the rare mystery genre.

c) What other shows you'd like to try.
Future Boy Conan looks interesting. After all, Hayao Miyazaki, a personal fave, is involved. :)

d) How often you're likely to visit us and post.
Like many people, I'm not much of a forum-goer. I might post occasionally, but I'm no where near those people who have 1000+ posts. :P

Oh yea, I was supposed to introduce myself here... hmm... here goes. I'm Eternal_Blizzard, and I am a burned out fansubbing machine. I mostly time and encode here in L-E, though I am also an editor, typesetter, and a quality checker. I have contributed in a few of L-E's projects, and I'm looking forward to not being retired for many years to come.

I know this is late and all, but welcome to the group, Johnny. I have already met you on IRC, but I thought I would post something on the forums anyway.

LOL, burned out fansubbing machine? I thought you haven't subbed for that long yet? Do I sense a quick burnout from using your turbo boosters too much?  :P

Anyway, welcome to the group. We hope you help us out for years to come. Like I told you on IRC, retiring from fansubbing is a lot harder than it seems.  ;)

Quack! So ... I'm MizunoKamo. I'm the newest addition to the L-E QC team (Which you should totally join! (http://www.live-evil.org/so-you-want-to-be-a-live-evil-qcer)). I'm a fan of anime of all kinds, but the old-school stuff is what I prefer. I discovered L-E through Future Boy Conan (Amazing work on that one, guys!), but I'm intending to watch the entire library of L-E-subbed shows at some point. Whether or not I'll post much here, time will tell, but if nothing else, I'll probably be lurking a lot.

Mata ne!

Ah, so you decided to introduce yourself, MizunoKamo? LOL

Anyway, glad to have you in our ranks. Thank you for deciding to help us out. It's very much appreciated. It's cool that you prefer to watch old school anime, considering you're still a young dragonfly. A lot of young anime fans like yourself today tend to prefer the newer, trendier anime. Of course, there are always exceptions. I hope you decide to stay with the group for a long time and help us release more old school anime for all the anime fans out there to enjoy.  8)
