Apples are like an addiction to him.

I'm not sure if he still ate them in the shinigami world, but in this world, if he doens't have any, his body twists up, like it did before (thus Light having to feed him the apple) It MAY be that it's supposed to represent how Light believes himself as a God, and thus is passing the temptation onto others?

But there is also little to no allusions to religion and God in the series, save for mentions of it. there's nothing blunt, such as in Evamgelion, so it may just be a slight "pun" (for lack a better word) when he picture is there, with Light in Adam's place, and Ryuk taking up the other position.

One quick little tidbit of information for ya: There actually WAS no apple mentioned in the bible during the fall of Adam and Eve. It only says "fruit" when referring to the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and so it could have been any fruit, rather than an apple.

10C?

Our hhighest ever recorded temperature for december was tuesday, and it was 9C.... T_T

British weather sucks, but I wouldn't have it any other way *snuggles up to hot chocolate*

Ah, I'm truly looking forward to seeing how things develop in the next episode, with Light's new classmate and all  :D

I'm not sure if that's a spoiler or not.... *checks the end of episode 9*....*realises she hasn't watched episode 9*

Right well...

...*watched it* Right...no, it's not. I LOVE "watashi wa Eru desu" in Yamaguchi Kappei's voice SO SO much. Eheh...I squealed, and my mum came to check on me.

Light freaking out was a moment I was really looking forward to, when I read it in the manga. It's one of those key "OMGWTF?" moments where you're so shocked by the OOCness of the character, that it makes the plot so much more interesting.

One complaint: I wish they'd drawn L's feet cuter looking.  They're a key part to him! They should be smooth and cute, not bumpy and odd looking *pout* But they're still nice.

You guys have nothing to worry about if it gets licensed. At least america GETS dvd releases. :( I can be about 90% certain we won't get any releases in England. At all.

The only recent series I can think about that's been released is Naruto, and that's because it's on Jetix *pout*

As for the TV in the bag trick: Shouldn't the pen/ pencil be hitting the top of the bag, thus resulting in a noticeable crease along the top?  I do think it was a clever idea, though.

He used a piece of lead, or really tiny pencil. I'm not just making this up: he uses it later on in the series, too.

Past L-E Projects / Re: Death Note Poll 2: The 'justify killing' Poll
« on: November 20, 2006, 04:33:19 pm »
I'm really not sure. Until I've been touched by such an event, I really don't know. Maybe precognitive killing is okay? Like how Light killed the guy outside the store because he was harassing, and seemed like he was going to continue harassing, a woman.

I think, to an extent, it can be justified, and, while it is said we shouldn't get the coice to end someone's life or not, the murderers who Light kills are taking that power into their own hands. So maybe the power should be used against them?

All crime is bad, in one sense of the word, and, while there should be punishment, death maybe isn't a legitimate answer?

I'm not going to vote, as I really don't know. If there was a "I'm not sure" box, my vote would be there.

I disagree with this statement.  I, and I hope most rational people, see no good in rape, child molestation, and a variety of other felonies.  Murder is one of the few felonies that sort of has a white side along with the black.

While you may see no good in it, as do I, in fact, those who commit the crimes have to have some motive. It's like saying "I hate this food" but then someone else likes it. It's a difference in opinion, really, and while most may believe it to be wrong, it is not entirely so, as, out of 6 billion people (nearing 7, I believe) there is bound to be a select few who have opposing opinions and, while we say wrong, they say right.

Much like the difference in opinion Light and the police have (getting back to the subject). While Light believes he is justice, L believes that  he is injustice.

That's what I mean by nothing is always entirely right or wrong.

I don't think that any action can ever be entirely good or entirely bad. Anything you do is near bound to have some negative reflection on someone else.

As of right nwo, in the anime, I see Light as drifting slightly from his previous course, but sitll on the right tracks. I'm sure that as it goes along, we'll see him become much more manipulative (such as lying to Naomi to get her name, playing on the death of her fiancee) to keep himself clear, as L will NOT give up his investigation, and there will be so much more he needs to do as time goes along. The FBI agents are one piece moved and taken in what looks like it's going to be a very long game of chess.

L will have to sacrifice pieces to make Kira show him a weakness (such and Lind L Taylor) while Light will be knowingly setting traps around these sacrifices. What we have is two geniuses trying to outwit eachother, one before he is killed, the other, before he is found.

It is so easy to just keep writing.... Goddamn these plottish stories!

Hmm...maybe he believes they're a hindrace to the law,and so is acting like the laws that are already set down. If you (and i can't remember the technical terms in this instant) disrupt the procedures of law, you are arrested.

While, what Light is doing is severe, he may be keeping to those severes, as those people who he kills won't necessarily be on death row, especially not in other countries that dont' inflict the death penalty, and you get killed by him, no amtter what the severity of the crime is. Perhaps defiance of his idea is a crime to him, and so he believes those who are depicted as innnocent are guilty.

In a rather "twisted logic" kinda way, it makes some kinda sense. And he DID only kill 13 innocents (12 FBI + Naomi), not counting the guy L stuck on tv whose name escapes me at this time. And while placing value on someones life isn't right, it's not that many, compared to the hundreds of criminals he's killed so far.

We just htink it is, as we are actually told that all those people died, while he's still killing criminals, even while he's defending his position.

I think at the end of this series, I could write an essay on it. My posts are so looong.

You may be right, but then we'd have a boring series where a kid studies for exams and kills prisoners in his spare time.  Then again, we cannot forget that innocent people may occasionally become prisoners as well.  Light kills them without a second thought, treating them no better than lab rats in scientific experiments.  His downward spiral into evil is what makes this show so compelling for me to watch.

Kudos to the L-E team.  Another job well done.

I think he places judgement on them. He's often said he only killed someone ebcause they were let free, despite clear evidence against them. With his detectivve skills, I think it would be rather easy for Light to figure out if someone was innocent or not judging his choice on given evidence.

think the most compelling part for me is seeing how far he's willing to go to be able to keep killing criminals. If you think, in the long run, he might even have to kill his father, as he's also on the investigation team. Would he be willing to go that far? And if he was, I think it'd really prove that he's not actually doing this for himself, but for the world, and is really a good guy, ina a kinda evil way. He's ruthlessly good to an extent.

Also, there are SO many times I've wanted to spoil, but I resisted.  It's quite hard when someone's come up with an idea you KNOW is wrong or something.

In response to those who have said "DN is not a yaoi series"

Ever heard of Fanon? interpretation? The fact that we don't see EVERY SECOND of the character's lives means we CAN fill in the gaps with whatever we want. Or read into things to much.

And also, I've actually picked up a few habits of L's.... Biting my nails, or chewing on them harmlessly, as I'm trinyg to grow them (though it's hopeless T_T) and sitting funny when I'm doing my homework.

Also been on a bit of a sugar binge recently. I'm so easily manipulated.

If L HAD shinigami eyes, he'd know who Kira was, or at least know how Kira was killing, as only the owner of a DN at the time can make that deal. Those who have read the manga will knowanother reason why. :D

I says it once again, he dun sleepies! And the pandaness amkes him look pretty darn cute...

Does this count?

I would identify the artist.. but I have no idea who it is!  If anyone does, please let me know so I can credit them!

Ten points for you, my friend! Read on in the manga and there's so many yaoi hints... *fangirl*

Aarinfantasy has about twenty DJ's that I've already had a pretty good gander at. <3

L! L! L!
L is sleep deprived. He doesn't sleep, methinks. Comes with the too much sugar thing, and the whole superintelligent thing.

Actually, he's thought to have Asperger's Syndrome, I think.

As of now in the series, I think it's slightly unfair to judge who's the favourite, and we've only really SEEN L for one episode, while Light's had six. At the beginning of the MANGA I liked Light more than L, but over time, as it went on, I realised just how damn adorable L iiiiis!
