I remember liking it back in the day, but I honestly only remember bits and pieces. It was definitely a huge change of pace coming from the creator's previous work, Fushigi Yuugi, being much more serious and gory. Sorry I can't help more. :/

Haha, that's great! I would actually come out of my soon-to-be-imposed retirement and edit this! XD

True. I don't know much about manga licensing, so no idea if they automatically acquire the new chapters as they come out or only have the license up to a certain point. But it's probably the former, so yeah. Scanslations are for 'tards regardless of whether the manga's licensed or not.

Learn to read Japanese and import the manga (hah!)  The reason they're stopping the series is because they've practically CAUGHT UP to the manga. They need to stop for a while to give the manga a chance to pull ahead and actually CREATE some story to animate.

It's Newtype. Of course it can be trusted.

Initial D: 4th Stage ends at episode 24.

Newtype magazine's website gives the episode descriptions for eps 23 and 24, and episode 24 is marked as the final chapter. (http://pc.webnt.jp/anime/disc_base.php?oid=580216) The avexmode website still has that "and more to come" thing after eps 23/24, but they're terrible about updating their website anyway -- it'll get removed in due time, I'm sure.

For those that are curious, Takumi's race against Joushima ends in ep 24 (I'm not saying how, but it's in the description). The episode description gives no mention of anything that happens after the race.

The only reason he's never seen those questions before is because he's too damned ignorant to look in the Initial D topics.

People who keep insisting that Tokyopop's version "ruined" the series are morons. I've said this countless times, and I guess I'll say it again -- their DVDs are NOT edited/censored/oppressed in any way! There is a "classic" mode you can watch all of the episodes in that is EXACTLY the same as the original! Anyone who thinks otherwise is either ignorant and/or is jumping onto the anti-Tokyopop bandwagon because they think it makes them look cool. And the DVDs are dirt cheap, too. You can get them from http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com for like $12 a DVD. So just quit whining...

Episode 17 (much less 18) won't be translated until next week, if all goes well. The translator is very busy with school-related activities and is swamped for time... if anything, he'd prefer two more weeks until starting on the episodes, but he said he'd try to get one of them done sooner. Seeing as how our typesetting and encoding problems are now taken care of, we should *hopefully* have them out not too long afterwards. No promises!

As for other subs of ID4, who cares? To put it more bluntly than gumbaloom apparently prefers to, you're making yourself look like an arrogant ass and you aren't even really helping anybody. Everyone knows thewird subs ID4 too, and if they care about watching them they'll already know when they're out and where to get them. And using the "it'll get the whiners off your back" excuse makes you sound even more retarded than your post already did, since whiners and ignorant morons are eternal. Just keep it out of these forums.

Slight status update on ep 16: our encoder's computer exploded (his motherboard, that is), further evidence that this project is CURSED, so it's going to be halted at the encode phase for a while. Maybe a 16-18 release bundle wouldn't be so bad...

We gots ourself a typesetter now, so hopefully this thing will be ready to go in a relatively short amount of time.

We went around it, using a partially-typeset version of the script.

While we're at it, I'll give some more details:

Ep 16 has been translated, edited, timed, and even QC'ed. All that it needs is to be finished typesetting, and that's where it's been for WEEKS. Once a certain somebody finally gets it typeset we can get it to encoding and release the stupid thing. On a related note, we're looking for experienced typesetters for the project.
