Title: 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother
Post by: JimKi on February 07, 2004, 11:02:03 am: Hi, i just watched the first episode of this serie and after reading the credits i though i had to drop by the board to tell you that i want more :-)

Ok the animation is old, but the story is promising, for those who didn't look at the first ep, give it a try, it's just cool to watch

I just watched the first episode of Marco ... I'm from Chile, and when this show was aired over there I think I was about 4 or 5 years old ... I don't remember much of it but the song, different from the english, and of course, the original version .. I remember something like 'En un pueblooo italianooo' and 'Mi mono Amelio y yooo' hahaha anyhow, it's just a blast to be able to watch this again after all these years :') such great memories.. My older brother and I used to watch it together, singing along those lame songs in spanish .. (believe me, in spanish they sound sooo sad and lame)
3000 leagues.. is a classic, everybody should watch it!!
Well.. I hope you guys get to release all the episodes, I'll be looking forward to it!

The characters are simply drawn but the way they are animated is a hundred times better than any new ones out there like naruto.

I'd like to say thanks to you, Tofusensei. I have been looking for this series for a long time. This anime is wonderful, the plot is great and, considering it was produced in 1976, the graphics are really cool - I highly recommend it to everyone.

This is a very high-quality, well encoded release.

I'm brazilian and used to watch Marco when I was a little boy, I'm very happy I can watch it again. I have a .mp3 of the intro song in portuguese, wich sounds pretty sad and lame too, but also brings me some good memories (mostly me & brother & sis crying out loud because of Marco's misventures). :D

Are you going to release all of the 52 episodes?
It would be really cool. I'm waiting for the next ones.

Once again, thank you very much. No words can describe how much grateful I feel right now, man.

It is most definitely a Maaya song, the boy is obsessed with her to the point it’s starting to get creepy <help>

I decided to do the credits like that so I can put a different song clip in every episode! :D

People usually like my taste in music when it comes to these things... I think O_o;

Post by: MarcoPolo on March 09, 2004, 09:28:48 pm: OMG I cant believe somebody picked up the project, I remember watching this along with other world masterpiece theater when I was a kid ;D for some reason the long additional credit from ep 1 was really really heart-felt ;) old anime is just so different from anime nowadays, they got a lot more substance i guess :) A lot more emotion involved without getting near pretentiousness.

p.s. Hello Tofu, can you make a post on all the different songs used for credit so we'll know the name to the tunes. Thank you.

It is such nostalgia and so imbued with emotion. And this is especially true to me. My mother left my sister and me for a America when I was two. However, it took me much longer to make it to America, at the age of 16.

Speaking of nostalgia. A few days ago, I ran into an article on "Krtek". Does that ring a bell? Krtek, a cute little mole was created by a Czech animator and especially popular in Communist countries. It's quite big in Germany and Japan too. I'd love to see that again.

And many of the quality, Chinese animes too! Of course, those early ones, made in the 60's & 70's, in studios in Shanghai. Most of them are not serialied but they are all very artistic. The execution and style rival any early Japanese animation.

I'll stop here since I rekon this is not a request forum afterall. My point is that "3000 leagues" has brought back so much to/in me.

Here in France we could not see this serie on TV, and I found it on this site by pure luck.

I saw the first four episodes, and i must say they are very well animated. The staff includes major japanese artists as Takahata, Miyazaki, Kotabe, and it is of great interest for me to discover the early works of those people.

I hope you'll manage to make subs for the other episodes, thus i imagine how huge the task can be.
