What is the sub station alpha?
What is substation alpha?

Substation alpha is a powerful Windows baced fansubbing software.
Kind of like Jacosub was for the amiga.
It was VERY popular and from what I understand it has still has not been surpassed even though It's creator Kotus retired from the project (Read got a life, got married i think) And has not come out with a new version in several years since version 4  :'(

mIRC, xchat these are free evaluation for 30 days stuff....I need a freeware IRC client :(...like bitTorrents clients are...you have any idea where I can get a freeware IRC client? :'(

Mirc will still work after 30 days

It will just bug you when you start it up every time.

It will work perfectly for you you dont have to pay anything to make it work beyond 30 days.  :)

Do you have to be professionally associated with the anime world or something to be able to go there?  If I ever go to the US, I wouldn't miss it for the world! :D

Nope
It is open to to public.

For a modest price that is.

This year we are having some big name guests like Kotoko :P

Can anyome teach me how to use IRC?  I've got this link, but my graphics card is creating problems for me to view the page properly.

First off you need an IRC client
Mirc is one of the best ones out there.

http://www.mirc.com/
you need to download and install that.
It is best to have good antivirus/spyware software on your system cause it is easy to infect yourself with trojans if you are not careful.

when you first run it , you will see the setup screen.  here you setup your name, email (you dont REALLY have to set these most of the time) and the all important nicknames.  keep in mind that most likely where ever you go that all popular names will already be owned so you may have a problem finding one, names like Tsubasa_one can be used and so on.

Next you click on that sun looking thingy to choose what server to connect to.  to connect to #live-evil  you find a IRC network : enterthegame and then click on  connect to server.

Once connected a favorites window will open
where it says "enter a channel name and click join you type #live-evil

and the channel will appear

OR

If you want to visit MY haunt

it is the same as above but rather than enterthegame as the IRC network you pick DALnet and the channel you pick to join is #anime

:P

This may all seem confusong at first but it does get easy once you get used to it

I have been on it for 8 years now :P

I have lost faith in most American animation long ago. The bluk of it is mindless drivel mass produced for the brainless masses.

Okay, Masakari, take it easy!!!  I didn't quote ur stuff because it will take forever!  U have something against Tsubasa Chronicle?  Personally I don't really think the Sakura is TRC is that cute and she seems too rundown to me...poor dear.  The Sakura from CCS was a lot cuter and Syaoran lot hotter.  Well, whatever the character designs, I love Sakura and Syaoran no matter what.  And I hate those who think perv about her because Syaoran + Sakura = everything in place and they have no place for perverts between them lolzzz...I didn't know their was this cute sakura pervert thing going around till I came to this forum!

I feel the same way.
CCS is very very dear to me, and most prized possession is my laserdisc of CCS. (this if of corse irreplaceable now and therfore priceless) If anything were ti happen to them I would not know what to do. ??? :'(

It was a labor of love for me whan I subbed them. The show was popular. it still is. so it is only natural that TRC would have a huge following as well.

It has been made quite clear that other L-E projects have lagged while TRC and Nana has been put into the fast lane.
But ragging on TRC and TRC's fans wont resolve anything.
