I'm listening to OST now and it's really great. Especially L's Theme is awesome. I believe that I missed most of the music while watching the episodes so now I can appreciate it even more.

I hope my neighbours won't call the police because of the deafening music

I actually find it genuinely hard to find a favourite anime. I just can't label one, as I know so may great ones. Death note is most certainly top 5, maybe even top 3.

I haven't watched much anime yet as ive started watching 1 year ago, but i do know i already have the same problem as you
