It sounds like you are not set up to play MP4 files or that you do not have the correct codec for h264 or that you have a codec that is too old.

Try updating your codecs. Many of us use the Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP) at http://cccp-project.net/.

Also, try opening the file from within your video playback program instead of clicking on the file in Windows Explorer. This will ensure that the problem is not with Windows understanding how to play a file with the extension ".mp4".

Try one of the two players that come with CCCP. Either media player classic or zoomplayer.
My mind is like a sieve. It retains all sorts of interesting bits and lets the important stuff flow straight through.

Actually, once you've got the codec working, virtually any player will work.

However, Medial Player Classic seems to be the most popular. But I'm biased. It's the one I picked after trying several different players.

File playback problems are usually one of 2 things

either a) the file is bad

or

b) incorrect codecs

I'd download the CCCP (core community codec pack)

That should take care of things or if you wanna do it manually FFDshow + haali media splitter + media player classic = win
